It's Men's Health Week!

To mark Men's Health Week, the SMSA is facilitating Shed Open Doors Week, giving communities the chance to visit participating Sheds, meet local Shedders, and see first-hand the positive difference Men's Sheds make to men's lives.

If you've ever been curious about your local Shed, this is the perfect opportunity to step through the door and discover what it's all about. Find a participating Shed and learn more about Shed Open Doors Week at https://scottishmsa.org.uk/opendoors

And, even if your local Shed is not participating this year, don't worry – you can still find your nearest Shed, check their opening times, and pop in to say hello at a time convenient to you - https://scottishmsa.org.uk/find-a-shed

SMSA's new Development Officer, Brian McWilliam (who took over from Tim Green, when he retired) on a visit to Inverurie & District Men's Shed's Open Day and Tool Sale recently πŸ˜€

SMSA's new Development Officer, Brian McWilliam, visited Inverurie & District Men's Shed's Open Day and Tool Sale on Saturday 16th May 2026.

Brian was welcomed by SMSA Trustee Archie Peebles and introduced to other members and trustees of the Shed. The weather was dry and brought out a good number of visitors to the Shed, who all enjoyed the excellent selection of sandwiches and refreshments.

Brian was given a tour of the Shed, which included: woodworking area, welding bay, craft room – where there were members involved in both water colour painting and model making – and, of course, the well attended social area which had a very welcoming wood burner keeping everyone nice and warm.

There are plans to rebuild the social area in the future and it was interesting to look at the design drawings and hear about the project in a little more detail. The tool sales also went well, so all in all the day was seen as a great success. Brian also heard about the Inverurie & District Men’s Shed allotments, which he intends to visit very soon.
