The Spring Plant Sale was a wonderful success! We managed to raise £1896 on the day! We are so grateful to everyone for coming out to support us and bringing home your new green friends. A special shoutout to our amazing volunteers for dedicating their time and effort, as well as the incredibly generous plant donations we received. 🪴

Join us next Thursday for the final lecture of the 2025/2026 series by Dr Andy Taylor of the James Hutton Institute on the importance of fungi for healthy plants.

Andy is an ecosystem ecologist interested in the interactions between plants and soil biodiversity, in particular the roles of fungi in ecosystems. He has worked in various ecosystems across the planet, from lowland tropical rainforests to high alpine and tundra habitats.

The lecture will explain that fungi are essential but often overlooked components of all terrestrial ecosystems. From the very first colonisation of land by rooted plants, fungi have been critically involved in nutrient acquisition and water uptake by plants. The intimate interactions between two completely different kingdoms of biodiversity have shaped our world and the ecosystems around us for the past 420 million years. This talk will explore some of these interactions and their consequences for plants and all terrestrial biodiversity, including our gardens.

Here's another reminder that the FCBG Spring Plant Sale is happening next Saturday on May 16th! Come find us in the Cruickshank Botanic Garden adjacent to the Herbaceous Border and the Friends Summerhouse!

Discover a beautiful variety of plants, from herbs and houseplants to shrubs and perennials, at really great prices. Bring your family and friends and come support an exciting local event!

This is also a wonderful opportunity for all of you to make new friends and connect with fellow plant lovers while supporting the vital work to maintain the botanic garden. Please help us spread the word by sharing this post. ❤️

Visitors are also very welcome to explore the garden on the day! What better way to spend your Saturday morning? It's full of gorgeous blooms at this time of the year and perfect for plenty of photos with your loved ones!

There's also still time to volunteer or donate plants for the sale. Plant donation delivery instructions are all on the poster below but if you have any further questions don't hesitate to email Stuart!

We hope you’re all having a great week so far! We would like to share this community event taking place next Sunday in honour of Juliet Robertson. Juliet was a passionate advocate for outdoor learning and play whose work inspired so many educators and children in Scotland, and a beloved member of our community.

Around the Enchanted Bench is a gentle and creative day in nature bringing people together to share stories and reconnect with land, language and one another.

This event is free for all and will take place in the Cruickshank Botanic Garden on the 17th May 2026 from 11am-4pm! Share this with your family and friends! ❤️

Mark your calendars! Our beloved Spring Plant Sale is back! Invite your family and friends and join us on Saturday, 16th May from 10.30AM to 12.00PM! 🪴

Discover a beautiful variety of plants, from herbs and houseplants to shrubs and perennials, at really great prices. This is also a wonderful opportunity for all of you to make new friends and connect with fellow plant lovers while supporting the vital work to maintain the botanic garden we all cherish! Please help us spread the word by sharing this post.

We are still looking for plant donations and volunteers to help out on the day! We have all the information about plant delivery in the poster. If you’re interested to donate even just a few plants and spare a few hours on the day, please send an email to our plant sale organiser, Stuart Wale!

Our beloved Spring Plant Sale is a few weeks away and we would love your help once more! 🪴

Plant donations from your gardens will be most appreciated! We happily accept annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, alpines, vegetable seedlings, herbs and even house plants! Even if you can only supply a few plants they will be most welcome. Information regarding the delivery of donated plants is provided in the poster but if you have any queries or require help, feel free to contact Stuart Wale!

We are also looking for volunteers to help out between 8.30AM and 12.30PM on the day of the sale to set up tables, arrange the plant donations, assist those who attend the sale to choose plants and tidy up after the sale finishes.
If you are available and willing to help at the plant sale on Saturday 16 May, please drop an email to Stuart Wale.

We hope you're are all having a great week so far! The garden is now open daily from 9am - 7pm from April until September to give you longer hours to explore and enjoy the changing season! ☀️

Have you visited the arboretum recently? Look at the beautiful shades of green and stunning patches of daffodils all around! You can even find an amazing variety of wildflowers popping up in every corner! Don't forget to tag us in your photos! We would love to see and share them! ❤️

Hap-bee Friday! Thanks to Bryce Reynard and his wife Elizabeth who came along last night to give us a fascinating lecture on Plants and Pollinators and the work that bees do in our gardens and the wider landscape. As an expert skep-maker and award-winning beekeeper Bryce and Elizabeth shared their insights on producing top-quality honey through pollinator-friendly planting from their garden in Inverness. We hope you all enjoyed it!

Calling all Friends of Cruickshank Botanic Garden! We have an exciting opportunity for you! We’re looking for a volunteer to join our committee as Secretary!

The committee members play a vital role in supporting the garden, organising meaningful projects throughout the year and hosting excellent educational programs like our monthly lectures! We're a small, friendly group of people who share a love for the garden and the environment. You'll find a welcoming team ready to hear your ideas, value your skills and make volunteering something you look forward to! This is a commitment you can easily fit into your schedule as we only meet four times a year!

If you're interested, get in touch to find out more and put yourself forward for nomination before or during our upcoming April AGM.
