WE NEED YOUR BAGS!!!

We have run out of bags for our foodbank. Unfortunately, no one ever seems to bring back the 'bags for life' that we use for family parcels...! If you have a supply lurking in a cupboard then please give them to us, otherwise people will have to take away food parcel contents in their pockets....

Foodbanks across the city are really struggling just now and we are no different. This is where the support of friends such as Somebody Cares Aberdeen really helps!

A gentle reminder that foodbanks are here as an emergency resource and not something that replaces the need for purchasing as much as is possible for your household. We appreciate that times are hard for most of us but that means our resources are also stretched to the limit.

CFINE, Instant Neighbour and all of the other large emergency food providers in the city are desperately short of food. This in turn has a severe impact on local services such as ours to provide food to those in need of support. If you are able to make a donation to CFINE, whether food or funds, please do so. We all rely on their incredible support.

CFINE and its partner organisations across Aberdeen are running extremely low on food for emergency food parcels.

Many people across Aberdeen are struggling due to the rising cost of living. Access to emergency food can be a lifeline for many however, we are now struggling to keep up with the increased demand. This is why we are joining with other partner organisations across Aberdeen to put out an urgent call for donations of food.

We are looking for donations of:
- Tinned meat and meals
- Tinned beans
- Tinned fish
- Pasta
- Rice
- Cereal
- Jars of pasta sauce
- Toiletries
- Pet food

Donations can be dropped off Monday – Friday, 9am – 4pm, at:

Our Community Engagement Event with be at St George's Community Centre Hayton Road Tillydrone, Love Life Outdoors Aberdeenshire will be here with some of their bike track outside and the centre. Stella's bikes will also be here. There'll be picnic style sandwiches and Easter Eggs. You're welcome to join us at 11am-1pm

St Machar Park (opposite the Zoology Building) has great potential but is underused and barren. Friends of St Machar Park are keen to make it a great space for community use and will be holding an engagement event at the park on Saturday, to engage with residents of the area and find out their views. There will be fun Easter activities for kids including egg painting and rolling, face painting and a bike track so get yourselves along!

We have an amazing empty space at the entrance of Tillydrone, called St Machar Park, it's opposite the University's Zoology Building on Tillydrone Avenue. There are funds available for upgrading it, but are only accessible through a 'Friends of ' group & volunteers, the council can no longer access. It needs to be the community. The main aim of Saturday's event is to collect information from you, that will be used in applying for future funding. Do you use the Park? Would you use the Park? What would you use the Park for?
We were given amazing information from St Machar Academy, who did their own project on this and provided us with a pie chart, stats, graph. These are the children who need a space to sit and hang out with their friends. Let's re-energize this amazing open, green space together.
