‎Sometimes, the most meaningful support comes full circle. ❤️

🤝🤝‎Recently, we were delighted to welcome back one of our former volunteers, Damilola Francis, who returned to MAMACITA FOUNDATION with a thoughtful gift a wireless microphone.
‎
❤️❤️‎For Damilola, this was more than just a donation. It was his way of giving back to a place that supported him when he first arrived in Aberdeen. He reflected on the warmth, shelter, shared meals, laughter and memorable moments he experienced with us memories that have clearly stayed with him.
‎
🤝🤝‎The idea for the microphone came after he noticed a need during one of our events last year. He saw how a wireless microphone could give our MCs and participants greater freedom to move around, making our programmes more engaging, interactive and inclusive.
‎
❤️❤️‎Today, that thoughtful gift will support our Tuesday Pop-In Sessions and other activities, helping us create welcoming spaces where people can connect, participate and feel heard.
‎

❤️❤️Today, we’re reminded of something simple but powerful:
No one should have to choose between putting food on the table and paying an essential bill.
At Mamacita Foundation , we see the reality behind food insecurity. Sometimes, it’s a parent trying to make a meal stretch a little further.

🤝🤝Sometimes, it’s someone living alone who simply needs a helping hand. And sometimes, asking for support takes more courage than people realise.

❤️❤️Our Food Bank and surplus rescue work exists to make sure that, when someone is struggling, they know they don’t have to face it alone.

🤝🤝We work to rescue surplus food, reduce unnecessary food waste and get food where it is needed — while treating every person with dignity, kindness and respect. ❤️

❤️❤️Every food parcel is more than food.
It can mean relief. It can mean hope. It can mean someone feeling that their community cares.

🤝🤝To our volunteers, donors, food partners and everyone who continues to support our work thank you. 🙏🏾
And if you are struggling, please remember: asking for help is not a weakness.

❤️❤️‎When One Setback Becomes Too Many.
‎Imagine waking up not knowing how you'll feed your children by the end of the week. That is the reality one parent in our community faced this week.
‎
🤝🤝‎They had already been holding things together on reduced working hours, the result of a medical condition beyond their control. They adjusted. They persevered. Then, last week, they lost their job entirely one more hardship in a year that had already asked too much of them.
‎
❤️❤️‎With no income and days still to go before any support arrives, they reach out to us. Not asking for much just enough to feed their children until Friday. And even then, they said gently, I understand if you can't help. I know others need it too.
‎
🤝🤝‎That quiet grace, that willingness to put others first even in their own moment of need, is why the Mamacita Foundation is here.
‎For every story we hear, there are many more we haven't reached yet. We need compassionate hands and generous hearts funds to provide emergency food support, and volunteer drivers willing to deliver hope directly to families' doors.

Mamacita Foundation Pop-In Sessions

It started with a simple question.

🤝🤝We were sitting together at our Pop-In Session people from different backgrounds, different cultures, and different life experiences having the kind of conversation that can easily happen when people feel comfortable enough to speak openly.

Then someone asked:

“What is the legal age of consent in Scotland and England and Wales?”

For a moment, the room became a little more thoughtful.

The answers started coming.

❤️❤️People weren't trying to be difficult. They genuinely believed the answers they were giving were correct.

And that moment told us something important.

🤝🤝Sometimes, the things we assume everyone knows are exactly the things people need a safe space to talk about.

❤️❤️The correct legal position is that the age of consent is 16 in Scotland and 16 in England.

🤝🤝And suddenly, what began as one question became a much bigger conversation about understanding the law, making informed decisions, asking questions without fear of being judged, and making sure people have access to accurate information.

People shared their thoughts.

Others asked questions.

Some listened quietly.

❤️❤️There were different perspectives, but there was something beautiful about everyone being willing to learn from one another.

This is why our Pop-In Sessions matter.

🤝🤝Sensitisation isn't just about standing in front of people and giving information.

It's about sitting with people.

❤️❤️It's about creating a room where someone can say, “I didn't know that,” without feeling embarrassed.

It's about helping people understand one another.

🤝🤝It's about bringing different cultures and experiences together and finding the common ground that makes us a community.

❤️🤝 But as we looked around that room, another reality became impossible to ignore.

There simply isn't enough room anymore.

Every week, more people are finding their way through our doors.

Someone comes because they need emergency support.

Someone comes because they are lonely.

Someone comes because they want to meet people.

Someone comes with a question.

❤️❤️Someone comes simply because they know that, at Mamacita Foundation, somebody will listen.

And we are incredibly grateful that people trust us.

But our space is struggling to keep up with the people who need it.

That's why we're making an honest appeal to our community.

🏠 We are looking for a larger, more suitable space in Aberdeen.

A space where conversations like this can continue.

A space where people can come together.

A space where we can provide emergency support.

🤝🤝A space where someone who has been feeling isolated can walk through the door and feel, even for a little while, that they belong.

❤️❤️If you know of a suitable space, venue, building, or opportunity that could help Mamacita Foundation grow, please reach out to us.

🌅 A Morning Reminder from Mamacita Foundation 🌅
Good morning! 💛

Sometimes, the smallest moments of connection can mean the most. A friendly greeting, a genuine conversation, or simply asking someone how they are doing can help break through feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Let’s remember to care for our own mental well-being while also looking out for those around us.

We don’t have to have all the answers we can simply listen, show compassion, and remind people that they matter. 🌿✨
