Join Action for a Fairer World and partners for the John Forster Memorial Lecture, 2026!

This year, the lecture will explore food ethics and aims to reflect the key issues in our food system, locally and globally.

The lecture will be delivered by Nigel Dower, Honorary President of Action for a Fairer World, who will then be joined by CFINE Sustainable Food Coordinator Martin Carle - coordinator of Granite City Good Food for discussion followed by an audience Q&A.

CFINE are looking for new volunteers to join our team at our emergency food access point.
This is an excellent opportunity to join our team of volunteers. All enquiries are welcome, whether you are looking for something to fill your spare time, meet new people or gain experience for your CV!

The role will include working at our emergency food access point, taking postcodes, serving the public, and helping to restock.

We are looking for multiple volunteers that can cover the shifts below 👇

🍏 Monday 9am – 12pm and 12pm – 3pm
🍏Wednesday 12pm – 3pm
🍏Thursday 12pm – 3pm

CFINE’s Warehouse Skills Development Programme has been shortlisted for a 2026 SURF Award!

The programme has been shortlisted in the ‘Removing Barriers to Employability’ category.

Our Warehouse Skills Development Programme is designed to help people lift themselves out of benefit reliance and into a position where they can support themselves and their families. The course is designed to provide practical warehouse skills, health and safety certifications, employability training, cooking skills, and support to improve financial stability. Whilst introducing participants to CFINE’s wide range of wrap around support.

On Wednesday CFINE and Granite City Good Food hosted an event at The James Hutton Institute to explore the history of the Growdome. 🥬

The event was well attended with guests being invited to explore the Hutton Hub’s immersive suite and visit the Growdome in its new home! The attendees also enjoyed a series of short speeches featuring contributions from Lee-Ann Sutherland (the James Hutton Institute), Gaynor Mackenzie (highlighting the Commonwealth Potato Collection), and Rebecca Dunn and Martin Carle (CFINE).

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and explored the growdome and immersive suite at the event, and to the Hutton team, including Lee-Ann Sutherland and Fay Vincent! 💚

The Growdome is now permanently on display at the Hutton Hub Café. People are welcome to visit the Growdome during the cafes opening hours (Mon – Fri 8:30 – 14:00). Community groups, schools, and other organisations can arrange a visit in advance, for more information on this please contact Rhiannon Malley at [email protected].
