🌟CFINE celebrates Volunteers Week 2026! 🌟

This week is Volunteers Week!
Our volunteers are at the heart of CFINE, without them the work we do wouldn’t be possible.
Last month 105 volunteers contributed 4,274 hours across all areas of CFINE. Including working in our warehouses, driving vans, in our pantry, helping with admin and working at the Fruitmart in Peterhead.

To celebrate Volunteers Week at CFINE we have planned a few activities across the week for our volunteers.
Yesterday Angus and Kian hosted a quiz, with our volunteers competing in teams for first place. Congratulations to the winning teams! 🏆

Last week CFINE hosted its first Community Meal! 🍴

This Community Meal gave people a chance to meet new people, eat delicious food and learn more about the benefits of home cooking. This is the first event in a series of Community Meals hosted by CFINE that will bring members of our community together to enjoy a warm meal and chat about different topics.

The meal was well attended with attendees enjoying a two-course meal of steak pie, potatoes, veg and honey sponge cake with yogurt. The ingredients for the meal where sourced from surplus food that was redistributed by FareShare and then prepared in our Community Training Kitchen. This helps to reduce the environmental impact of food waste by preventing edible food from going to landfill.

The theme for the next Community Meal will be Community Growing. Highlighting the health, environmental and mental benefits of growing your own food. Keep an eye out on our social media for more information on this.

A huge congratulations to Marla! 🏃‍♀️‍➡️

Last week Marla, one of our volunteers, was in Edinburgh battling with the heat to complete her first ever marathon alongside her dad Angus.

Marla smashed her fundraising target and has raised an incredible £787 for CFINE!

Once a month Kellis and Kerry from CFINE’s SAFE Team cohost a benefits and budgeting advice show on SHMU FM.
This week they will be joined by Grampian Credit Union to chat about the benefits of joining a credit union!

CFINE are currently struggling to keep up with demand and are urgently looking for food donations to include in their emergency food parcels.

Sam takes on the challenge of Saltire24 solo! 🏃‍♀️

This year will be Sam’s fifth year competing in the race but the first time doing it solo and not part of a team. She is taking on the challenge on June 21st and attempting to raise £1,000 for CFINE!

Fundraisers like this are a great way to support CFINE! All money raised by Sam’s fundraiser will go to support the increased demand on CFINE’s wrap around support services.

Due to the cost-of-living crisis we have seen an increased number of people approaching CFINE for a range of support. Including a sharp rise in the number of people accessing our emergency food provision, with numbers rising from 43,850 parcels distributed in 2024 to 54,398 parcels in 2025.

CFINE are proud to be AOC Productions Charity Partner for their production of The Great British Bake Off Musical!

Today is World Therapeutic Horticulture Day 🪴

World Therapeutic Horticulture Day is a global event organised by Trellis. To celebrate the different ways that therapeutic horticulture helps people improve their health and well-being around the world.

Here at CFINE our Community Growing Project aims to increase social connection, improve confidence and enhance practical skills, all to improve health and wellbeing across the community growing spaces we support.

Jack Middleton MSP visits CFINE!

The new MSP for Aberdeen Central visited CFINE this morning. Jack was invited on a tour to meet some of the team and learn more about the wide range of support CFINE offers. Including visiting our emergency food access point, SAFE Team, community training kitchen, and community pantry.

Jack also dropped off some donations after seeing our urgent appeal for food. We are currently running extremely low on items to include in our emergency food parcels. You can find out how you can donate on our website:
