Pick just one tiny thing tonight to help your nervous system realize it is finally time for bed.
(Read at your own risk. I'm like - will it relax me and make me sleepy or will I be up until 5am? It's a toss up.)

Cactus Book Club officially launched on World Book Day 2022 - we are so excited to now be entering our 5th year! 🀩

Since 2022, we have donated over 2740 book packages to young adults in the North East, Highlands & Islands of Scotland who are isolated for health reasons πŸ’Œ

We couldn't do it without the wonderful support of our volunteers, donors, funders and member network🌡

What are you using as a bookmark today?

Happy World Bookmark Day! What's the weirdest thing you've ever used as a bookmark? A receipt? A napkin? How about a banana peel or a circular sawblade? In honor of the occasion, we're sharing the most unhinged objects librarians have found tucked between pages.

We're talking cheese slices, Band-Aids, PokΓ©mon cards, and even cash people forgot about. Proof that readers are creative, chaotic, and slightly terrifying.

*Paid funding panellist opportunity - Cairngorms*

We are really grateful to have received support from this funding and wonderful work in the past πŸ’›

This would be a great opportunity for any of our members living in the Cairngorms!

People living and working in the Cairngorms National Park are being invited to design an exciting new community fund worth Β£1 million.

The new Cairngorms 2030 Community Fund is an investment in communities – with a twist. People who live in and love the National Park will design the whole process of handing out Β£1 million in funding from start to finish.

The Cairngorms National Park Authority are looking for 18 people representing a diverse range of community interests to join a paid panel to shape the fund. Independent charity Involve will review all expressions of interest and ensure a reflective group of people are selected, ensuring that a wide range of ages, backgrounds, experiences and views will be part of the panel. They will then support the group to come up with ideas and make decisions on how the grants process will work. This will take place in the first half of 2026 with a view to the fund being launched in summer 2026.

Panellists will be paid for their time, at an hourly rate of Β£20.17, and must be available to attend panel meetings on the below dates:

Β· Wednesday 25 March, 6 to 8.30pm (online)

Saturday 28 March, 9.30am to 5pm (in-person at a location in the National Park)
Saturday 25 April, 9.30am to 5pm (in-person at a location in the National Park)
Β· Wednesday 6 May, 6 to 8.30pm (online)

Β· Wednesday 13 May, 6 to 8.30pm (online)

Β· Wednesday 20 May, 6 to 8.30pm (online)

Saturday 30 May, 9.30am to 5pm (in-person at a location in the National Park)
Β· Wednesday 17 June, 6 to 8.30pm (online)

Express your interest to join the panel by 22 February:

Our heartfelt thanks to all those who have been a part of Cactus Book Club in 2025 πŸŒ΅πŸ“š To the donors, funders, authors, box-packers, volunteers, link workers and, of course, our members. With this support and enthusiasm, we donated 953 packs in 2025, which brings our total to date (since March 2022) to 2499 packs! 2025 has been our biggest year yet and we are excited for what's to come in 2026 πŸ’–
