A few photos from last Saturday’s Halifax Region Walk and Roll! 💙

Our Executive Director, Donna Hartlen, getting ready to welcome participants to our first Walk and Roll in the Halifax area in several years, and some of the first community members arriving for the event!

This event marks an important step in growing our presence in Atlantic Canada.
Building a community takes time, and every gathering is an opportunity to connect, raise awareness, and lay the groundwork for what comes next.

We're committed to making sure people living with GBS, CIDP, MMN and variants across Atlantic Canada know they are not alone and that support and information are within reach.

💙 The Recovery Journey – Our Final Video Is Here!

Illness can change so much about our lives, including how we see ourselves, what we're able to do, and how we connect with the person we were before.

But how do we reconnect with ourselves after everything we've been through?

Today, we're sharing the final video in The Recovery Journey series, created in collaboration with certified Mindset and Alignment Coach and GBS Warrior Alizée Rémond.

In Part 5: Reconnecting with Yourself After Illness, Alizée explores an incredibly important part of recovery that often doesn't get enough attention: rediscovering who we are, making peace with the changes we've experienced, and finding ways to reconnect with ourselves as we move forward.

💙 A huge thank you to Alizée for sharing her experiences, insights, and practical tools throughout this series!

🎥 Watch Part 5 today! And if you've missed any of the earlier videos, we encourage you to check out the full series.

đź’™ What a wonderful day at our Montreal Walk and Roll!

One of the highlights of this year's event was seeing so many people come together! A special shoutout to those who travelled long distances to be there, including from Ottawa, Val-d'Or, and Victoriaville.

Days like this remind us of what makes the GBS/CIDP Foundation of Canada so special. More than anything, we're a community where people can come together, share their experiences, feel understood, and know they're not alone.

And the connections didn't end with the walk! We wrapped up the day with our largest in-person Quebec support group gathering yet, bringing together 14 participants for an afternoon of sharing and support.

A huge thank you to our walk chairs Stephanie Seebeck and Magalie Thibaudeau along with our incredible liaisons, volunteers, sponsors, participants, and everyone who helped make this day possible.

đź’™ This is what community is all about!

💙 It's Canadian Intensive Care Week - October 19–25

For many people affected by Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), a stay in intensive care is part of their experience. It can be a frightening and uncertain time, not only for patients but also for their families.

During Canadian Intensive Care Week, we want to recognize the incredible healthcare professionals who care for patients during some of their most vulnerable moments.

From nurses and physicians to respiratory therapists and the many other members of ICU teams, their expertise, dedication and compassion make an enormous difference.

đź’™ To all intensive care professionals, thank you for the care you provide, the reassurance you offer and the difference you make in the lives of patients and families.

Is your loved one in intensive care? Visit our website to learn what to expect during an ICU stay and access our communication cards, designed to help patients experiencing paralysis communicate their needs: https://gbscidp.ca/resources/icu-toolkit/

💙 The Recovery Journey – Parts 3 & 4 are coming this week!

Recovery from GBS and related conditions goes far beyond the physical. Fear, uncertainty, anxiety, and learning to accept the changes that come with recovery can all be part of the experience.

This week, we're sharing Parts 3 and 4 of our video series, created in collaboration with certified Mindset & Alignment Coach and GBS Warrior Alizée Rémond.

Through this series, Alizée shares insights and practical tools to help navigate the emotional challenges of recovery, adapt to change, and find ways to move forward.

One of the biggest challenges many people in our community face is helping family, friends, and colleagues understand what they can't see.

Many of the symptoms and lasting effects of GBS, CIDP, MMN, and variants are invisible to others, but that doesn't make them any less real. Pain, fatigue, and physical limitations can take a toll on everyday life. And then there's the emotional weight of living of having to adapt, make difficult choices, and sometimes miss out on things you once enjoyed.

đź’™ This Invisible Disabilities Week, we encourage everyone to take a moment to learn more about invisible disabilities, listen to the experiences of those living with them.

Just because you can't see someone's disability doesn't mean they aren't living with its effects every single day.
