Today, we are pleased to celebrate and warmly welcome Yvonne Campbell, Yvonne Campbell to the Mannahelp Board.

Yvonne is the owner of Yvonne’s Travel and Tours and a Destination Travel Specialist. Through her work, she has built strong experience in customer service, relationship building, entrepreneurship and creating meaningful experiences for the people she serves.

Beyond her professional work, Yvonne is passionate about giving back and making a positive difference in her community.

As a member of the Rotary Club of Ajax, she is actively involved in community service and in building connections with others who share a commitment to helping people and strengthening communities.

Yvonne brings to Mannahelp a warm, people focused approach, strong relationship building skills and a genuine desire to contribute to work that supports individuals and families.

She is excited to support Mannahelp’s mission of fighting hunger, supporting families in need and protecting the environment, and we are equally excited to have her join us.

Today, we are pleased to celebrate and warmly welcome Rachel Arhin, Rachel Arhin to the Mannahelp Board.

Rachel is passionate about giving back and believes that meaningful change begins with compassion, collaboration and service.

In her professional role as a Senior Advisor with Employment and Social Development Canada, she brings experience in strategic planning, leadership and public service, along with a genuine desire to help others thrive.

A graduate of Carleton University in Policy Management and Economics, Rachel has also represented Canada internationally through pageantry, an experience that deepened her appreciation for advocacy, confidence and community leadership.

Rachel brings to Mannahelp a thoughtful and people centered perspective, as well as a strong commitment to building meaningful connections and helping create opportunities that can make a lasting difference.

Today, we are celebrating Silvana Kerollos, Silvana Samir one of the dedicated members of Mannahelp’s Board who brings strong financial expertise, integrity and thoughtful stewardship to our work.

Silvana is an accountant with several years of experience in accounting, financial management and client service. She has worked with both national and international organizations, building trusted relationships while helping ensure accuracy and efficiency across financial operations.

Outside of her professional work, Silvana also enjoys gardening and appreciates the process of nurturing growth, both in the soil and in the community. That connection aligns beautifully with Mannahelp’s work through our community garden, food support programs and broader mission.

Silvana is passionate about contributing to Mannahelp’s mission of eradicating poverty, ending hunger and protecting the environment, and we are grateful for the knowledge, perspective and commitment she brings to the Board.

Today, we are celebrating Anita Quaye Anita Quaye REALTOR 🇨🇦/🇬🇭, one of Mannahelp’s longest serving Board members and someone who has been part of our journey through important stages of growth.

Anita is an experienced real estate professional with RE/MAX Community Realty Inc., serving clients across Durham Region and the Greater Toronto Area. Through her work with buyers, sellers and investors, she has developed strong skills in relationship building, communication, client service and understanding the needs of individuals and families.

Beyond her professional experience, Anita has a genuine passion for improving lives and giving back to the community. She believes strong communities are built when people are willing to share their time, skills and resources to support others.

That belief is deeply aligned with Mannahelp’s work.

Whether we are addressing food insecurity, supporting individuals and families, building stronger community connections or advancing our environmental initiatives, Anita brings energy, perspective and a people focused approach to the Board.

For some families, an empty fridge isn’t a temporary inconvenience. It is a daily reality.
It is a parent wondering what they will feed their children tomorrow.

It is a senior stretching what little they have just a little longer.
It is a family quietly struggling while trying to hold everything together.

At Mannahelp, we believe no one in our community should have to face that struggle alone.

With 1 in 4 households in Durham Region experiencing food insecurity, the need is closer to home than many of us realize.

What a wonderful afternoon of connection, community, and purpose! 💙

On Tuesday, Mannahelp was proud to participate in the Durham Volunteer Fair at the Audley Recreation Centre in Ajax, where we had the opportunity to meet so many incredible people who are passionate about giving back and making a meaningful difference in our community.

For Mannahelp, volunteers are at the heart of so much of what we do, from supporting families through our food assistance programs, to working in our community garden, helping at events, supporting outreach, fundraising, administration, communications, and so much more.

It was inspiring to speak with individuals who are ready to share their time, talents, and compassion in service of others. Every conversation reminded us that when people come together with a shared desire to help, the impact can be powerful.

A heartfelt thank you to Durham Region Educational Services for creating this opportunity for community organizations and prospective volunteers to connect, learn from one another, and build stronger communities together.

And to everyone who stopped by the Mannahelp booth, asked questions, shared your stories, scanned our QR codes, or expressed an interest in volunteering with us, thank you. We cannot wait to welcome some of you into the Mannahelp family. 💚

One of the first things people often say when they open a Mannahelp food hamper is, “This is fresh.”

Not all canned food. Fresh produce, harvested this week from soil just minutes from home.

That is something we hold onto deeply at Mannahelp. A food security garden in Durham Region should help feed people, yes, but it should also help feed them well. And this season, our garden beds are giving back in a big way, with some of our largest harvests yet.

Behind every harvest are people who continue to show up week after week. Business owners with dirt under their nails. Nurses coming straight from a shift. Healers, neighbours, families, retirees, and people who simply heard there was a need and decided to do something about it.

They may not all know one another when they arrive. By the end of the row, they often do.

That is part of the magic we get to witness: a community growing food for its own community, one garden bed, one harvest and one act of kindness at a time.

To everyone who has put their hands in this soil, watered a bed, pulled a w**d, planted a seed or helped with a harvest, thank you. ❤️

You are helping fresh, nutritious produce reach tables across Durham Region, and we are so grateful to be growing this community alongside you.

Today, on National Nonprofit Day, we celebrate the power of community, compassion, and people choosing to make a difference. ❤️

This past Saturday, we welcomed children and families to our Back-to-School Event, providing backpacks, school supplies, snacks, and support as they prepare for the new school year. 🎒✏️🍎

For some families, back-to-school season brings not only excitement, but financial pressure. Being able to ease that burden and help a child feel prepared means so much.

None of this happens alone. It happens because donors give, volunteers show up, partners support, and our community cares.

Today, we celebrate everyone who makes this work possible. Thank you for standing with us. ❤️
