Today is World Sight Day! It’s an international day of advocacy and action – a day to shine a spotlight on the importance of eye care and encourage everyone to .

Today, and throughout the month of October, the entire eye care community is standing up to raise awareness about what it means to have eye care that is accessible, available, and affordable for all.

Nearly every person on the planet will experience an eye health issue in their lifetime, yet over 1 billion people still lack access to the services and treatments they need. It’s a sad reality, but it’s also one we can change.

We know you love your eyes, and with your support, we can share that love with people in need of eye care all around the world – people just like eight-year-old Oriana from Peru.

For many children living with albinism, a genetic condition that can affect eyesight as well as the colour of the skin, hair and eyes, everyday life can be much harder. Many also face misunderstanding and stigma, making it even harder to reach their full potential.

That's why Orbis is supporting hospitals like Kitwe Teaching Eye Hospital in Zambia. By providing equipment and training for children’s eye care services, children can access eye examinations, treatment and glasses closer to home.

For Jeremiah, this support made all the difference.
