In 2025, devastating cuts to international funding put decades of gains against the HIV epidemic at risk. Our partners across 14 countries in Africa faced impossible choices, but all were able to remain open during this time.

Supporters of our 2025 Emergency Appeal helped ensure they could keep showing up for the communities who rely on them.

Thank you for standing alongside our partners and with us at such a critical moment.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this important conversation on community-led mental health care at AIDS 2026.

Hosted in the Mental Health Networking Zone organized by United for Global Mental Health, we are deeply grateful to our partner organizations — Stepping Stones International (SSI), Farm Orphan Support Trust (Fost Zimbabwe) and Health Options for Young Men on HIV/AIDS and STIs (Hoymas Kenya) — for sharing their knowledge and experiences. Their insights highlighted what is working, where critical gaps remain and why community-led approaches are essential to advancing both mental health and the HIV response.

Thank you to everyone who attended, asked thoughtful questions and contributed to the discussion. Together, we can continue to advocate for equitable, community-driven mental health support for all.

The SLF is at !

We're excited to be hosting an in-person session at the 26th International AIDS Conference in Brazil on Tuesday, July 28, at the Mental Health Networking Zone hosted by United for Global Mental Health.

Join us for a conversation with three of the SLF's partners as they share how community-led organizations are addressing the mental health needs of the diverse communities they serve. Together, we'll explore what's working, where critical service gaps remain and why community-based approaches are so effective.

Get YOUR community involved! It's easy to help us advocate for Canada's leadership on global health. Here's how:

Do you think you can get 20 or more people to fill out these advocacy postcards? If so, we'll send you a stack. Remember, Canada Post will deliver standard letter mail to your MP at zero cost to you.

Also, by sharing about this campaign on social media, you can encourage more Canadians to participate and increase our collective impact for global health. Take a photo of your postcard and tag your local MP and the SLF. Learn how to get started through the link in the comments.
