IWHC Toronto IWHC (Immigrant Women's Health Centre) is a Toronto sexual health clinic that provides services in multiple languages and with an all-female staff.

For almost 40 years, IWHC (Immigrant Women's Health Centre) has been providing sexual health services for women across the city of Toronto in multiple languages, in a culturally-sensitive environment, with an all-female staff. IWHC provides services such as STI testing, prevention and treatment; pregnancy testing, counselling and referral; family planning (Birth Control) services and a range of other sexual health-related services and outreach. We serve women in multiple languages and work closely with various communities:

* African Community
* Caribbean Community
* Youth

IWHC is open for general information and consult with counsellors from 9:00am - 5:00pm Monday through Friday. Our clinic hours are:

Monday: 10:00am to 6:00pm
Tuesday: 10:00am to 6:00pm
Wednesday: 2:00pm to 8:00pm
Thursday: 10:00am to 2:00pm

Our services are free, but if you do have an OHIP card or Interim Federal Health papers, we do ask you to bring them. IWHC is funded by the City of Toronto as an independent sexual health clinic.

Meet Dr. Aisha Khatib 👋💜
Dr. Khatib has been part of the IWHC team for the past 9 years, bringing her experience in infectious diseases, travel medicine and tropical medicine to the care of our community.
One of the things she values most about working at IWHC is supporting patients from diverse backgrounds, languages and life experiences – especially newcomers to Canada who may be navigating the healthcare system for the first time.
She is passionate about making healthcare feel welcoming, accessible, culturally sensitive and responsive to each person’s individual needs.
Dr. Khatib has also worked as a physician with the IWHC mobile clinic, helping bring care and support closer to the community.
Outside of medicine, she enjoys travelling, photography and discovering new foods, cultures and places around the world.
And yes… the fun fact is true 😄✈️👶
She once delivered a baby on an airplane at 35,000 feet – and the mother named the baby after her!

Love matters. But a healthy relationship needs more than love.
It also needs communication that feels safe, trust that isn’t controlling, boundaries that are respected, mutual respect and consent - every time.
Sometimes unhealthy behaviour gets excused with “but they love me.”
Love should never be used to dismiss your feelings, pressure you or cross your boundaries.
Healthy relationships make space for both people to feel heard, respected and safe.

Tested positive for HPV? Take a breath. 💜
A positive HPV result can sound scary, but it does not automatically mean cervical cancer.
HPV is very common, and many infections clear on their own. What matters most is following up and keeping up with recommended cervical screening.
Early detection can make a big difference.

HPV test or Pap test - are they the same?
Not exactly.
A Pap test looks for abnormal changes in cervical cells.
An HPV test looks for high-risk types of HPV that can cause those changes.
And here’s an important update: in Ontario, HPV testing is now the primary cervical screening test for most eligible people.
Different test, same goal: helping prevent cervical cancer through early detection and screening.
If you’re not sure when you’re due for cervical screening, talk to your healthcare provider or contact IWHC.

Before paying for the HPV vaccine, check what you may already be eligible for.
In Toronto, students in Grades 7–12 can receive the HPV vaccine through the publicly funded program. Toronto also currently offers free HPV vaccination to eligible males up to age 26 who identify as gay, bis*xual, trans, or as having s*x with men.
If you missed the vaccine at school, publicly funded catch-up vaccination is available through the end of Grade 12.
Not eligible for the free program? Talk to your healthcare provider or public health unit. Private or employer health insurance may cover part or all of the vaccine cost, depending on your plan. Some insurers may also require a prescription for reimbursement.
HPV vaccination helps protect people of different genders against HPV-related disease, including ge***al warts and several types of cancer.
IWHC offers HPV vaccination and generally sees patients aged 16 and older.
**For patients who are not eligible for publicly funded vaccination, the vaccine is available at IWHC for an affordable fee.**

Not all HPV types are the same.
The HPV types that most commonly cause ge***al warts are usually different from the high-risk HPV types linked to cancers such as cervical cancer.
That means having ge***al warts does not automatically mean you have a cancer-causing type of HPV.
Still, HPV screening, vaccination, and regular cervical screening remain important because different HPV types can behave differently.
