Canadian movies absolutely slayed at this year’s !

We just wrapped our annual post-TIFF debrief, where the team came together to talk about all the Canadian films we saw at this year’s festival (one of our staff members saw ALL of them!) - and one thing was clear: Canadian stories and perspectives matter, and this year’s lineup delivered.

These were just some of the films the team was excited about. This next year promises to be one of the best years yet for Canadian film!

The Canadian Film Fest is coming to Muskoka! 🍁

Join us Tuesday, September 29 at 7pm at the Algonquin Theatre in Huntsville for the first-ever CFF Huntsville Canadian Film Gala, sponsored by . 🎬

On screen: The Bearded Girl from writer-director Jody Wilson, starring Anwen O’Driscoll and Jessica Paré, preceded by Dan Abramovici’s short film Leopard. Both filmmakers will be there for a post-screening Q&A, with a reception to follow.

In honour of adaptations, here are three Canadian films that started as graphic novels and made their way onto the big screen:

🎥 Paul à Québec ()- adapted from Michel Rabagliati’s Paul graphic novel

🎥 Paying for It ()- adapted from Chester Brown’s graphic novel

🎥 Tangles (coming soon) - adapted from Sarah Leavitt’s graphic novel

P.S. Yes, we love Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, but sorry, it (technically) is not a Canadian film. 😬Although, S/O to its iconic scenes shot around Toronto...

Préparez-vous pour la toute première édition du Cayenne Carnaval, une célébration gratuite et multidisciplinaire des arts vivants, du cinéma et de la relève francophone, créée et animée par l'artiste Mehdi Cayenne.

De 15h00 à 17h00, plongez dans un véritable laboratoire vivant de jeunesse, de création et de performance en direct, avec de l'art à la craie, du théâtre immersif déambulatoire, des prestations de djembé, un quatuor à cordes et une chorale jeunesse du CEAO.
