Volunteering is about lending your time to those who need it, without thinking of the reward. And yet, the reward is twofold: being an active member of your community, and playing an important part in helping our vital programs to keep on running.

Our Reconnect community is deeply grateful for the time and dedication that our volunteers offer when giving back, and our volunteer coordinators who help to make sure everything runs smoothly, every single day. Happy National Volunteer Week!

Caregiver roles are so important and often overlooked. Supporting others can take a toll on caregivers, and they need support as well. Our FAME Family and Caregiver Support Services are here to help. Taking care of a loved one as they face a mental or physical health challenge can be equally challenging and rewarding, and requires great empathy, strength, and grit. These roles are so important, yet often unpaid, invisible, and prone to burnout without the right supports.

Today, on National Caregiver Day, we’d like to recognize the important work that caregivers do, and highlight the continued necessity of caregiver support services for those of all ages. Our Family and Caregiver Support Services (FAME) program is one of the biggest in the GTA.

Our Academy of Professional Development is partnering with Leadership Dialogues to offer a 6‑week executive learning series designed for not‑for-profit leaders navigating times of change!

The series begins in late April and will be facilitated by Rachel Logel‑Carmichael and Thomas Jepson‑Lay, both of whom have decades of senior leadership experience in the international non‑profit sector. Participants will engage in sessions exploring topics such as Leadership Identity and Context, Mapping the Leadership Ecosystem, Leading Through Change: From Awareness to Action, Building Trust and Mutuality Across Boundaries, and Strengthening Trust Architecture, Relational Authority, and Theory in Practice.

The cost is $500 per person. Weekly 90‑minute virtual session dates will be set in consultation with participants. If you are interested or have any questions, email us at [email protected].

Our Health and Wellness Centre has a new Senior Sports Club! Each month we'll explore a different sport. This program promotes physical activity, exercise, and overall well-being while introducing participants to fun and engaging new sports.
