Have you or a loved one been diagnosed with colorectal cancer?

The University of Strathclyde is conducting research to explore the quality of life and psychological well-being among people diagnosed with colorectal cancer. As part of this study, patients are invited to share their experiences through an anonymous online survey and an optional follow-up interview.

Patients' unique perspectives can provide valuable insights that inform colorectal cancer care.

If this applies to you or someone you care for, we encourage you to reach out to learn about the study and how you could help.

Biomarker testing is transforming cancer care β€” but how can we improve timely and equitable access across Canada?

This presentation at CCRAN's 4th Annual Pan-Tumour Biomarkers Conference introduces the Canada's Drug Agency (CDA) Biomarker Assessment Framework β€” a foundational guide that supports more consistent, evidence-informed decision-making for biomarker assessment across jurisdictions.

The session will highlight the Framework's objectives and strategies to support implementation, opportunities for shared infrastructure, and policy levels to enable broader uptake of biomarker testing.

Key areas of discussion include:
β€’ The CDA-AMR Biomarker Assessment Framework's purpose in supporting equitable biomarker testing decision-making across Canada
β€’ Implementation timelines, early priorities, and mechanisms for interprovincial collaboration
β€’ Highlighting practical opportunities to enable shared infrastructure, data access, and assessment processes

The case for CGP in Canada has never been stronger β€” but is our health system ready to act on it?

This keynote presentation at CCRAN's 4th Annual Pan-Tumour Biomarkers Conference brings together two landmark bodies of evidence: the comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) cost and benefit analysis and the State of Readiness Progress Report II. Together, they paint a clear picture of where Canada stands β€” and what it will take to make CGP a routine part of cancer care from coast to coast.

The session will highlight jurisdictional progress, persistent system gaps, and the role of real-world evidence in guiding coordinated decision-making across provinces and sectors.

Key areas of discussion include:
β€’ Assessing current system readiness for routine genomic testing, including progress and persistent challenges across jurisdictions
β€’ Examining economic evidence for CGP and what it means for real-world funding and system decision-making
β€’ Identifying practical opportunities to advance coordinated, pan-Canadian CGP implementation

We are so proud of CCRAN's President & CEO, Filomena Servidio-Italiano, who was honoured to take part in a panel discussion hosted by the Economic Club of Canada today!

The session β€” "Advancing Subcutaneous Oncology: Building System Readiness Across Healthcare" β€” brought together leading voices to explore how Canada's health system can prepare for and safely implement new cancer care delivery models, with a focus on patient experience, feasibility, and system capacity.

Filomena was joined on stage by Dr. Monika K. Krzyzanowska MD MPH (Chief, Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre) and Kathy Vu (Associate Professor, Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto), with the discussion moderated by Chris Hannay, Business of Health Reporter at The Globe and Mail.

A heartfelt thank you to Title Sponsor Merck Canada and Presenting Sponsor Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Canada for supporting this important national conversation.

We are proud to represent the colorectal cancer patient community at Canada's National Podium of Record. πŸ™

The American Cancer Society (ACS) has added blood-based screening tests as an option for colorectal cancer screening.

Adults ages 45 and older who are at average risk for colorectal cancer and who are not willing to get a stool test or visual exam may choose to get a blood-based screening test.

Recently, CCRAN’s President & CEO, Filomena Servidio-Italiano, was interviewed by Global News to share her insights on what this means for Canadians.

Precision oncology is not just about finding better treatments β€” it is also about knowing when to avoid the wrong ones.

In this video, Dr. Oliver Bathe, surgical oncologist and professor at the University of Calgary, explains how comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) helps clinicians personalize cancer care: selecting the right drugs, the right surgical approach, and β€” critically β€” avoiding overtreatment where it is not warranted. CGP enables this by going beyond what a microscope can see, giving clinicians a deeper understanding of each tumour's underlying biology.

Join us for CCRAN's 4th Annual Pan-Tumour Biomarkers Conference β€” a free, two-day virtual event on June 18–19, 2026. This year, for the first time, sessions will be available with real-time translation in French and 60+ other languages.

Where did last year's Biomarkers Conference leave us β€” and where do we go from here?

CCRAN's 4th Annual Pan-Tumour Biomarkers Conference kicks off with a session dedicated to the key learnings from 2025. The objectives and outcomes of last year's Conference have been captured and summarized in a peer-reviewed publication in Current Oncology β€” and the lead author will be presenting the key findings, themes, and calls to action highlighted in the paper.

It's the perfect starting point for two days of dialogue focused on translating evidence into national action on comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) in metastatic cancer care.

Key areas of discussion include:
β€’ Key findings and themes from the 2025 Biomarkers Conference
β€’ Progress made on calls to action from last year
β€’ The role of peer-reviewed evidence in advancing CGP policy in Canada
