At Avonmore Berry Farm, the harvest isn't the only thing the Phillips family works hard for.

Every year, they organize a 5km charity run in memory of Dave, who died from pulmonary fibrosis at 56, and in honour of Laurie and the siblings still living with the disease today.

Pulmonary fibrosis took their mother, four uncles, and Dave. Three of the four siblings carry the diagnosis.

Yet every year, they show up. They run. They raise money. And they keep moving forward.

Their story is one of resilience, determination, and hope. Watch it and see why.

Three days after her final chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer, Teresa showed up to volunteer at the Markham Hope Breathes Here Walk for Pulmonary Fibrosis.

For Teresa, volunteering isn't just about helping others. It's about purpose, community, and connection.

This year, she and her family will be back and she's hoping to complete the Walk herself.

Stories like Teresa's remind us that even when life is difficult, kindness, generosity, and hope can still lead the way.

Comment 'Walk' to find a CPFF Walk near you.

Jim's last wish was simple — help find a cure.

His family heard him. Last September, they walked in Ottawa, raised $1,400, and carried his name across the finish line.

Jim passed away in January 2025 from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He was 73, a 36-year lineman, a devoted grandpa, and a fighter until the end.

His granddaughter Chelsea put it perfectly: "His passing ignited a fire in me to raise awareness and support research, so that families might be spared the pain we endured."

Walk or donate for someone like Jim. 👇
