🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation - September 30, 2023 🧡
Today, we come together to recognize a poignant moment in our nation's history. A day to stand shoulder to shoulder with the thousands of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit residential school survivors. To remember and honour those who never made their way home. We wear orange as a symbol of acknowledgment, respect, and the ongoing journey of healing.
The deep-rooted trauma of residential schools persists, with its impacts reverberating through generations. Our Indigenous youth still grapple with the aftermath of this painful legacy. However, acknowledging the past is only the first step. Action is needed.
💡 Here's what you can do:
🧡 Wear Orange: Show your solidarity and commitment.
🧡Educate yourself: Understand the significance of the orange shirt and the stories behind it.
🧡 Read the TRC Calls to Action: Knowledge leads to empathy. Empathy leads to change.
🧡Support: Indigenous voices, artists, businesses, and especially the youth who carry the future.
Today, we ask you to consider taking action in addressing the legacy of residential schooling and the various other harmful policies of settler-colonialism. We are working hard to support our young people who have been impacted by the intergenerational effects of these harmful policies and are often struggling. Donate today so that we can continue offering Indigenous mental health and healing services to our community.
Your donation isn't just money. It's hope, support, and a pledge to ensure that the youth under our care thrive mentally and emotionally. By choosing to donate to us, you're investing in their future.
Don't just wear orange. Be part of the solution. Act now and donate.
