It is with deep sadness that we join our community in mourning the passing of Khalid Usman, a remarkable leader, philanthropist, and dear friend of Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH).
Khalid was a passionate ambassador for our hospital, bringing people together through meaningful relationships and a shared commitment to local health care. As a former Foundation Board Chair, he was a driving force behind Canadians of Pakistani Origin, helping to inspire this extraordinary collective to raise $2.5 million in support of MSH — an impact we are proud to recognize in our Orthopaedic Joint Assessment Clinic.
Those who knew him will remember far more than his accomplishments. He was larger than life in every sense — a respected community builder whose generosity and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a rare ability to light up a room, making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and connected.
His legacy is reflected in the people he brought together, the spirit of giving he championed, and the countless individuals he inspired to make a difference. We are honoured that MSH’s Baby Wall bearing his family's name will continue to stand as a reminder of his dedication to community and family for future generations.
We are profoundly grateful for his years of service, leadership, and friendship. Our thoughts are with his family, loved ones, and all those whose lives were enriched by knowing him. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
