🎬 Kickstart 2025 with SMPTE Toronto at Dark Slope Studios!

The evening began with a warm social hour featuring networking, pizza, and drinks, followed by an exclusive tour of Dark Slope’s cutting-edge 35,000 sq. ft. Virtual Production studio. Justin Cathcart, Head of Virtual Production, led attendees through the facility’s impressive features, including:

* Two massive 12,000+ sq. ft. sound stages
* Advanced technology like LED panels, motion capture, Unreal Engine, and more

Attendees learned about the unique hardware, software, and tools that are revolutionizing virtual production for Directors, DPs, Gaffers, and Producers. A lively Q&A session wrapped up the evening, sparking engaging discussions and ideas.

This month’s meeting we are back participating at the Profusion 2024 Expo. This is a great venue to host a Section meeting.

Topic for the evening: Still & Video Photography and How AI Can Play a Role

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been a hot topic, with extensive discussions and writings on its capabilities, its impact on the workforce, and the potential challenges it presents. We are honoured to have two distinguished guests, well-known in our industry, who will share their valuable insights.

Our lineup of presenters includes:

Michael J Martin, Vice President of Technology, Metercor Inc.
Title: Artificial Intelligence in Still Photography
Michael’s presentation will provide an overview of how AI is impacting the still photography industry, its technology, and software. He will share some personal experiences and outcomes from past AI photography projects. This presentation is suitable for photographers of all experience levels, using any technology from smartphones to advanced cameras.

During the two-day show SMPTE Toronto will be hosting a booth. The booth number is 2806. We would love each of you to drop by and say hi.
