Another IAMAT Scholar success story! Your support is important not only for Dr. Sally but for the pediatric patients and travellers that seek care at his hospital.

With your gift, we can cover the IAMAT Scholars’ tuition, flight and accommodations. Your generosity allows our Scholars – who otherwise would not be able to attend the training – to acquire the up-to-date knowledge and hands-on experience they need to become skilled travel medicine practitioners in their communities.

Our story

Our story started in Rome in 1960, when a seriously ill Canadian traveller was referred to Dr. Vincenzo Marcolongo by a colleague who did not speak English. This incident inspired Dr. Marcolongo to establish IAMAT and make the medical needs of travellers his life’s work.

From the outset, IAMAT's goal was to make the world a healthier place to travel by providing health information for travellers and training for health practitioners.

Today, we provide up-to-date health information for all countries and award scholarships to doctors and nurses from countries where travel medicine is an emerging specialty. We are proud that donations allow us to continue our programs in the spirit of generosity of our founder.
