Youth leadership in action! 🌟 At Upper Canada College’s annual Association Day (A-Day), student members of the UCC Human Rights Club took the lead in raising awareness for Good Neighbours Canada’s global initiatives.

The team hosted a booth showcasing Good Neighbours Canada’s emergency relief, clean water, and child sponsorship programs, alongside handcrafted items from its social enterprise, Goods4Causes. The students raised $335 through donations and sales in support of communities worldwide! 💙

Good Neighbours Canada recognizes the importance of healthy aging - developing habits that promote both a longer and better quality of life. On National Seniors Day, we celebrate the older adults who enrich our communities, while recommitting to their physical and mental wellbeing.

Through our Happy Body, Happy Mind project - run in partnership with the Happy Senior Centre - we help older adults build confidence, stay active, and break down barriers like social isolation. From gentle yoga and balance training to dance exercise and outdoor trips, we’re fostering vibrant communities where everyone feels included and supported 🧘‍♀️🌿

Today, take a moment to honour an older adult in your life - reach out for a chat, share a walk, or support local senior initiatives so everyone in our community feels included.

Field Update: September 24 | Nepal Flash Flood Emergency Response

Nearly a month after catastrophic flash floods struck the Bhote Koshi River corridor, the crisis in Nepal continues to unfold - over 84,000 people are affected, with 1,386 lives lost and more than 8,190 missing.

Thanks to the swift generosity of our community, Good Neighbours Canada has officially surpassed our initial $10,000 target, raising $10,648 to date! 🎉

Our field teams in Nepal continue to deliver critical, life-saving aid on the ground:

🔹 Targeted Food Relief: Distributed essential food packs to families in urgent need, including 12 orphaned children in Kispang Rural Municipality.
🔹Psychosocial Support: Conducted specialized training for counsellors, facilitators, and assistants at Child Friendly Spaces in Sundari Keurini and Chandrajyoti (Bidur, Nuwakot).
🔹 Hygiene & Sanitation: Delivered 1,100+ Sanitation & Hygiene Kits across key schools, hospitals, and facilities in Bidur Municipality.

New Milestone: Raising our goal to $20,000

It’s been two weeks since we launched the 2026 Hope Letter Campaign, and we are already so inspired by the heart and creativity youth across Canada are bringing to this project!

There is still plenty of time to get involved! By sending a message of encouragement to 12-year-old Charles and his sister Anna in Zambia, participants under 18 not only build global awareness - they also enter for a chance to win incredible prizes, including a $300 donation made in their name to Charles’ community! 🏆

On August 22nd, nearly 300 runners took part in the annual BackRoads Brews + Shoes run to Port Stanley - raising over $1,000 for Good Neighbours Canada’s Clean Water Initiative in Zambia!

Building on last year’s efforts, which helped construct a new well in Chiwena Village, this incredible community is proving what’s possible when we run with purpose.

We’re inviting youth across Canada to share their heart and creativity by sending a message or drawing of hope to 12-year-old Charles and his sister Anna in Zambia.

Through this project, students build empathy and global awareness - plus, participants have a chance to win an amazing prize! 🎨✍️

Ready to inspire the next generation of global citizens?

On August 26, a high-velocity flash flood struck the Bhote Koshi River corridor in Nepal, carrying massive volumes of mud, debris, and boulders into the Trishuli River basin.

The impacts in Nepal:
💔 1,357 lives lost
💔 Over 5,326 missing
💔 279 injured
💔 Over 50,000 people affected

Good Neighbours Canada's emergency response is actively on the ground delivering life-saving assistance, but critical funding is needed to scale up our operations.

WHAT YOUR DONATIONS HAVE ACHIEVED SO FAR:
- 1,100+ Sanitation & Hygiene Kits distributed across six key locations in Bidur Municipality (schools, hospitals, local facilities)
- Food Pack Distributions providing essential items like rice, lentils, oil, salt, snacks, and spices to families in urgent need
- Psychosocial Support expanded with 100 children currently receiving mental health care across four Child Friendly Spaces
