For over 20 years, Kennedy House has proudly partnered with Centennial College’s Community and Justice Services Program. From student tours and placements to scholarships, training, and fundraising, this partnership continues to make a real impact. We’re especially proud that our Shelter Manager is a Centennial graduate and grateful for the recent student led fundraiser and Coldest Night of the Year walk supporting our work.

Thank you to the students and staff who continue to show up for our community.

This week is National Youth Week, a time to recognize the strength, resilience, and potential of young people across Canada.

At Kennedy House, youth are at the centre of everything we do. We are committed to creating spaces rooted in safety, dignity, and support, where youth can be themselves, build stability, and imagine what comes next.

In Toronto events are happening all until May 7, 2026 to celebrate Youth Week. Check out the events listing here: https://www.toronto.ca/explore-enjoy/festivals-events/youth-week-toronto/

St. Barnabas on the Danforth has been a long‑standing and deeply caring partner of Kennedy House. Not only do they host our Fundraiser each year, but their support continues well beyond a single event.

Throughout the year, St. Barnabas (https://www.facebook.com/St-Barnabas-on-the-Danforth-106155235493402/ ) marks special moments for youth at the shelter through thoughtful gestures such as cards and chocolate at Easter and Valentine’s Day, and gift cards during the holiday season. These moments matter. For a youth experiencing homelessness, simple acts of recognition can be incredibly powerful reminders that they are seen, valued, and cared about.

We’re grateful for their ongoing compassion and commitment to .

supports throughout the year in ways that reflect both generosity and intentional engagement.

Their team wraps gifts for youth during the holiday season, participates in CNOY, and introduces youth to building management as a possible career path. Beyond direct engagement with youth, Northam has also helped expand Kennedy House’s support network by connecting us to their professional relationships and broader community.

By opening doors, sharing knowledge, and showing up consistently, Northam Realty helps create opportunities that extend well beyond one moment in time.

Last month some of the youth in our care went on a field trip to a bowling alley!

This outing was especially meaningful as it was many of the youth’s first time bowling. It provided a great opportunity for them to step outside of the regular program space, connect with one another, and build stronger relationships in a fun & engaging environment.

Beyond meeting immediate needs like safety, meals, and clothing, we address the many factors that contribute to homelessness by meeting youth where they’re at and offering tailored supports.

A belated but BIG thank you to our volunteers at this year! Without our volunteers we would not be able to run our event, let alone such a smooth running one ✨️

Here are some of the smiling faces of our gracious volunteer team that greeted our walkers, kept our walker going in the cold by cheering them on and helped keep them warm and fed!

While our walk was a month ago, we are still collecting funds until the end of this month! If you are able to, please use the link in our bio to donate. We are just 2% shy of our meeting our goal!

Partner Spotlight Series: Ontario Care Collective

Kennedy House is proud to be a member of the (OCC). Being part of OCC connects us with organizations across the province that are committed to improving care, strengthening services and advocating for better outcomes for the young people we serve.

This partnership helps us stay connected, informed and engaged in conversations that shape the future of child and youth services in Ontario. Partnership with OCC means access to shared knowledge and best practices, opportunities to collaborate with like‑minded agencies and a stronger collective voice for children and youth.

Together, we are building a stronger support system for children and youth.

Stay tuned for the next Partner Spotlight.
