Last week, Rada Polonii Świata (World Polonia Council) held its Annual Meeting of Members in Brussels, Belgium where delegates from several countries elected new leadership for the Council. Dominik Roszak, President of the Canadian Polish Congress, was elected Vice President, and Greta Derus of the KPK Alberta District was elected to the Council's Audit Committee. The Canadian delegation also took part in a panel at the European Parliament and in the European Polonia Forum at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Belgium.

The Canadian delegation consisted of:

A wonderful celebration of 80 years of the Polish Combatants’ Association in Canada (SPK Canada)!

Canadian Polish Congress President Dominik Roszak was honoured to join fellow members and friends of SPK in Edmonton to celebrate eight decades of service to Polish veterans and Polonia.

A central member organization of the Canadian Polish Congress, SPK has played an important role in building our community, as well as preserving our history, traditions and heritage for generations.

Thank you to SPK Branch No. 6 in Edmonton for hosting, and congratulations to SPK President Monika Kardyś and the entire organization.

As we honour the generations who built SPK, we must also ensure their legacy is carried forward by the generations to come.

Congratulations on 80 remarkable years - and here’s to the next 80!

Yesterday, President Dominik Roszak was honoured to represent the Canadian Polish Congress in Washington, D.C. at a special commemorative event organized by the Polish American Congress, marking the 250th anniversary of the United States and celebrating the enduring friendship between Poland and the United States and the remarkable contributions of Polish Americans.

Held at historic Union Station, the event brought together numerous dignitaries and community leaders from the United States and Poland. A particularly moving moment was an address by Andrzej Poczobut, the journalist, human rights defender and activist of the Polish minority in Belarus, who was released earlier this year after spending more than five years imprisoned by the Lukashenko regime. His words were a powerful reminder of the courage of those who continue to defend freedom, democracy and Polish identity under extraordinarily difficult circumstances.

As PAC President Hubert J Cioromski highlighted in his remarks, the story of American Polonia is one of extraordinary contributions to the United States. Across generations, Polish Americans have also championed Poland’s freedom and independence, preserved Polish culture and identity, and mobilized in support of Poland at some of the most consequential moments in its modern history.

Canadian and American Polonia share a long history of cooperation. From supporting the Solidarity movement and Poland’s struggle for freedom, to working together through the Rada Polonii Świata - World Polonia Council on the issues facing Polish diaspora communities around the world, our organizations have demonstrated what can be accomplished when Polonia speaks and acts together.

The Canadian Polish Congress values its friendship and partnership with the Polish American Congress. We congratulate our American friends on this important commemoration and look forward to strengthening the bonds between Canadian Polonia, American Polonia and Poland for generations to come.

Together, we honour our shared history and continue building our shared future. 🇨🇦🇵🇱🇺🇸

Wielkie gratulacje dla Polish Canadian Women's Federation / Federacja Polek w Kanadzie z okazji 70-lecia! Od momentu założenia w 1956 roku przez Jadwigę Dobrucką Federacja kieruje pracą swoich Ogniw w całym kraju, wspiera inicjatywy humanitarne na rzecz Polski i Polaków za granicą oraz prowadzi projekty kulturalne i edukacyjne, które przez pokolenia podtrzymują polskie dziedzictwo wśród kobiet w Kanadzie.

Nasz Prezes oraz Pierwsza Wiceprezes mieli zaszczyt uczestniczyć w koncercie jubileuszowym z okazji 70-lecia w miniony weekend, a obecność w gronie tylu wspaniałych kobiet, które niosą to dziedzictwo dalej, była wyjątkowym przeżyciem.

Another fantastic Roncesvalles Polish Festival Toronto in the books!

The Canadian Polish Congress and its member organizations were out in full force among the Roncesvalles Polish Festival Vendors , sharing our stories, celebrating our heritage, and showcasing the very best of Polish-Canadian culture!

A huge thank you to the Roncesvalles Village BIA, Hypitch, along with all the volunteers and staff, including the good folks from Copernicus Lodge for making this beloved annual Polish tradition another great success!
