🇵🇱 🇨🇦

Today, Polish communities around the world observe Corpus Christi, known in Polish as Boże Ciało, one of the most significant feast days in the Catholic calendar, commemorating the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. In Poland and in Polish parishes across Canada, this day is marked by outdoor processions, flowers, song, and shared prayer that have united families and communities across generations. The Canadian Polish Congress extends warm wishes to all those observing this feast day.

The Polish flag was raised on Parliament Hill, thousands marched through Toronto at the Polish Heritage Month Parade, and we welcomed several high-level visitors from Poland whose presence recognized the strength and importance of Polonia. We are also grateful to Prime Minister Mark Carney for his official message marking Polish Heritage Month, recognizing Polish Canadian contributions as artists, athletes, and contributors to every area of Canadian life.

To Polonia across the country, to our federal leaders who stood with us this month, and to KPK Branches from coast to coast: thank you. The ceremonies, cultural programs, and community gatherings you organized throughout May are the foundation upon which Polish Heritage Month is built. You made this the best Polish Heritage Month in Canada yet!

☀️ Great Poles in World History: Nicolaus Copernicus — Polymath and Astronomer

Nicolaus Copernicus (1473–1543) was born in Toruń, Poland and was a Renaissance mathematician, astronomer and Catholic canon. Educated in Poland and Italy, his revolutionary heliocentric model of the universe challenged the prevailing geocentric cosmology. He developed the theory that the Sun, not the Earth, was the center of the cosmos. His ground-breaking insights laid the foundation for the scientific revolution and forever altered humanity’s understanding of the universe.

Throughout Polish Heritage Month, we honour the profound contributions that Poland and Polish people have made to world history, science, culture, and democratic values. The Canadian Polish Congress is proud to celebrate this legacy and the 1.2 million Canadians of Polish descent who continue to enrich our nation. 🇵🇱 🇨🇦
