The Story of The United Senior Citizens of Ontario
The history of our organization has been well documented throughout the years. In 1984 Jane Leitch compiled this Roots and Shoots booklet to ensure that the hard work of our founding fathers was not forgotten. Revised editions were also published in 1988, 2003 and now again in 2017 in an ongoing effort to continue to spread the message. We pay tribute to those senior pioneers and strive to follow in their footsteps...
The U.S.C.O. is a grassroots organization that was started in Five Oaks, near Paris Ontario in September 1956 by a small group of seniors from southern Ontario. It’s first and founding convention was held in Toronto in September 1959.
The U.S.C.O. became incorporated in 1961, joined the National Pensioners and Senior Citizens Federation in 1962, and the International Senior Citizens Association in 1972.
