Level Justice programs start again in September.

Schools are confirmed. Program Facilitators are preparing. Youth are about to walk into classrooms and community spaces ready to learn, question, and lead.

And there are still communities on the list where Level hasn’t been able to say yes.

More communities are asking Level Justice to bring justice education and mentorship to youth.

Interest is coming from across the country, including northern and remote communities, Friendship Centres and Indigenous organizations, rural areas, and educators in locations where Level has never had the funding to deliver programs.

In each case, Level has had to say, “not yet.”

The programs are ready. Communities are asking. The gap is capacity: facilitators, travel funding, and coordination.

Youth should not have to wait for access to meaningful justice education and mentorship.

As wildfires continue to impact communities across Northern Ontario, our hearts are with everyone affected.

Today, the Level team is placing semma in prayer and reflection for our northern relatives, the families who have been displaced, the first responders, and the communities working tirelessly to protect one another.

Environmental justice is deeply connected to community well-being. The impacts of climate change and environmental emergencies are not experienced equally, and Indigenous communities are too often among those most affected. As we reflect today, we also reaffirm our commitment to supporting Indigenous communities, protecting the lands and waters that sustain us, and advancing justice in all its forms.

To all those facing uncertainty, loss, or evacuation, please know that you are in our thoughts. We stand with Northern Ontario.
