Dedicated to individuals who are HIV-positive or living with AIDS, LOFT’s McEwan House opened in March 1991. 🏳️🌈 It was named after Billy McEwan (adoptive name), an Indigenous youth who faced homelessness and contracted HIV after relocating to Toronto in the 1980s. 🎨 “The McEwan House” was painted by iconic Canadian folk artist, George McIntyre, as part of his “The Series of Twelve,” which celebrates landmarks in Toronto’s 2SLGBTQIA+ history.
