Today we recognize The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. ​

Celebrated annually on September 30th, we come together to honour Residential School Survivors, and to recognize and deepen our understanding on the history and generational impact of Canada's Residential School system.​

This morning, CEO David Fry and LOFT staff attended the Indigenous Legacy Gathering at Nathan Phillips Square to take part in their Wahkohtowin Walk. ​

🫂The literal translation of Wahkohtowin is kinship; however, its cultural and spiritual significance runs much deeper. It represents the profound interconnectedness of all things—people, animals, the land, and the spirit world. As a foundational law governing how we relate to one another, Wahkohtowin demands responsibility, reciprocity, and a commitment to living in balance, or “in a good way,” with all of creation.​

🧡 We are grateful for the opportunity to further our learning during Canada's ongoing journey toward truth, healing, and reconciliation.

🏠The newly built Bradford House offers 99 affordable private suites, with 30% fully accessible to support diverse needs. ​

Residents receive around-the-clock support from our dedicated Personal Support Worker team, including personal care, housekeeping, laundry, medication assistance, and escorted appointments.​

By providing compassionate, comprehensive care, Bradford House helps residents maintain their independence and quality of life while delaying or avoiding the need for institutional care.​

Happy Harvest Moon Festival! 🎑​

Honoured across East and Southeast Asia, the Harvest Moon festival marks a time for family reunion and celebration of the latest autumn harvest. This annual event is celebrated through traditions like gathering for dinner, moon gazing, lighting paper lanterns, and sharing moon cakes.​

Partnering with Toronto Senior Housing and volunteers from University of Toronto, residents and staff at Assisted Living - College View gathered to host their own Harvest Moon Festival. Residents and staff celebrated the occasion with lively performances by the Ontario Chinese Seniors Association and Silver Star Art Troupe, a filling feast, and of course, decadent moon cake! 🥮
