In honour of and , we’re spotlighting McEwan House. 🏠

Dedicated to individuals who are HIV-positive or living with AIDS, LOFT’s McEwan House opened in March 1991. 🏳️‍🌈 It was named after Billy McEwan (adoptive name), an Indigenous youth who faced homelessness and contracted HIV after relocating to Toronto in the 1980s. 🎨 “The McEwan House” was painted by iconic Canadian folk artist, George McIntyre, as part of his “The Series of Twelve,” which celebrates landmarks in Toronto’s 2SLGBTQIA+ history.

Last week, LOFT's 416 Community Support for Women team attended the Ontario Bar Association Awards where Ontario's Justice Centre initiative received the President's Award. This recognition honours their innovative work in reshaping justice for communities across Ontario and acknowledges the collective efforts of their partner organizations and teams.

The 416 has supported the Downtown East Justice Centre with a gender-responsive and comprehensive services that allows women-identifying clients access on-site virtual court and one-on-one intensive case management all in one location.

LOFT is proud to be part of this collective impact, which wouldn’t be possible without the welcoming and supportive 416 team. Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved! 💜
