Toronto Foundation

Toronto Foundation The Art of Wise Giving™ We help people invest in Toronto, making it the best place to live, work, learn and grow. We exist for Toronto - for now and for always.

Community vitality has been our purpose, promise, and passion since 1981, when we started connecting donors to community needs and opportunities. We monitor the quality of life in our city, identifying its strengths and weaknesses through our Toronto’s Vital Signs® report. We provide the leadership and guidance to bring people together from all parts of our community.

In case you missed it, we published our 2025 Annual Report!

Together with our fundholders, we granted $37.7M into communities while continuing to deliver strong financial returns that help sustain long-term impact.

But 2025 was about more than results; it was about strengthening the systems and relationships that hold Toronto’s social fabric together. Explore the highlights and stories here: torontofoundation.ca/annual-report-2025

What happens when organizations are invited to collaborate instead of compete?

A shared granting circle challenges the traditional dynamics of philanthropy by redistributing decision-making power and putting trust at the centre of the process.

Our experience with Canadian Women's Foundation offered important lessons about what becomes possible when communities help shape how resources are distributed. Read more: torontofoundation.ca/lessons-from-a-shared-granting-circle/

When families raising autistic children can access support and opportunities they can build toward, everything begins to shift.

Through The Goodness Gift, SAAAC Autism Centre is helping autistic youth access job training, paid employment and a stronger sense of belonging. Read how this work is helping change trajectories for families across Toronto and what becomes possible when more people step forward. torontofoundation.ca/where-opportunity-takes-shape-in-toronto

From supporting grassroots organizations to strengthening the relationships and financial infrastructure that help communities thrive, 2025 was a year of investing in Toronto's social fabric.

We celebrated the financial independence of the Equality Fund, partnered with another funder on a shared granting circle and consulted 80 partners on our plans to engage Torontonians this year. And those are just a few highlights.

Our 2025 Annual Report shares how donors, community leaders, investors and local organizations are helping build a more connected, resilient city.

What if kindness wasn’t quiet—but something we act on? That’s what Annabel learned kids mean by “bold kindness.”

It’s guided her work for decades—from Owlkids Magazine to ClearWater Farm Ontario and Future Chicken—and it starts with something simple: caring enough to get involved. Her advice? “Once your heart is connected, your hands can go to work.” Read more: bit.ly/4tgxECo
