On October 6, It Gets Better Canada is heading to Parliament Hill in Ottawa to bring the priorities of 2SLGBTQI+ youth across Canada to federal decision-makers.

We are joining q***r, trans, and allied organizations from across Canada for a Q***r Day of Action, calling on the Government of Canada to renew and expand the Federal 2SLGBTQIA+ Action Plan.

This is a critical moment, for Canada and for q***r people.

At a time when 2SLGBTQI+ communities are facing growing challenges at home and abroad, Canada cannot step back from a funded federal Action Plan.

Out of 94 Calls to Action, 15 haven’t even been started.

We are highlighting just a few of the unanswered Calls, from the “State of Aboriginal Peoples” Report ( #56) to the Royal Proclamation & Covenant of Reconciliation ( #46) to Jordan’s Principle ( #3).

Today, we ask you to reflect not just on the history and legacy of residential schools, but on the work that still hasn’t been done. Reconciliation isn’t a moment; it’s ongoing action.

It’s officially our Birthday!! It Gets Better Canada is now 10 years old! This year, we’re celebrating a decade of impact. A decade of young people finding community, stories reminding someone they weren’t alone, and resources, programs, workshops, and youth-led initiatives helping 2SLGBTQI+ youth feel seen, supported, and empowered to imagine what comes next.

Ten years ago, we started with a vision for what was possible. Today, we’re celebrating how far we’ve come. And tomorrow, we’re working toward reaching even more young people who need to know: it gets better.

C’est toute une dĂ©cennie dĂ©diĂ©e aux jeunes personnes 2ELGBTQI+ partout au Canada. Une dĂ©cennie d’histoires touchantes, d’ateliers gratuits, de trousses de la fiertĂ©, de l’appli GLO, de bourses Ă©mancipatrices et bien plus encore. Tout ça parce que nous croyons que chaque jeune personne mĂ©rite de se sentir reconnue, soutenue et cĂ©lĂ©brĂ©e.

Être en mesure d’offrir tout ça gratuitement pendant 10 ans? C’est Ă©norme. Ça veut dire que les jeunes n’ont jamais Ă  choisir entre leur identitĂ© et l’accĂšs Ă  des ressources. Ça veut dire que les Ă©ducateur·trice·s ont les outils pour garantir la sĂ©curitĂ© dans leur salle de classe. Ça veut dire une communautĂ©, des liens humains et de la joie q***r, en dĂ©pit de tout.

That’s a decade of showing up for 2SLGBTQI+ youth across Canada. A decade of heartfelt stories, free workshops, Pride Kits, GLO app, empowering grants, and so much more, all because we believe every young person deserves to feel seen, supported, and celebrated.

Being able to offer all of this at no cost for 10 years? It means everything. It means youth never have to choose between their identity and access to resources. It means educators have the tools to build safer classrooms. It means community, connection, and q***r joy, no matter what.
