Why is Brad putting our drinking water safety at risk?

Brad’s plan opens the door for Doug Ford to privatize our water. All while putting off repairs that make Toronto’s drinking water among the cleanest in the world.

The union representing Toronot’s water system workers (Toronto Civic Employees Union | TCEU Local 416) have sounded the alarms: Brad’s proposal could weaken oversight, funding, and put our water safety at risk.

The choice is clear. We either keep moving forward and building on housing, transit, and services with Mayor Olivia Chow. Or we go back to years of service cuts and conservative mismanagement with a Brad mayoralty.

Despite inheriting a ~$2 billion deficit and 13 years of conservative mismanagement, Olivia made important choices to put our city back on track.

In less than three years, Olivia’s delivered: the Scarborough Busway built in record time, stronger protections for tenants, and big investment in transit and city services. She succesfully pushed back against Doug Ford’s attempt to take over the Toronto Islands and won billions in investments to improve our city.

From more affordable housing to improved and expanded city services, Mayor Chow has been getting things done, cleaning up the mess left by years of conservative rule.

Why is Brad so desperate to hand over our water system to Doug Ford and make our drinking water more unsafe? 😩 All while creating more debt for our city? 😩😩

Former Vice Chair of the Budget Committee Gord Perks explains the downside of Brad’s water bill “cut”, and how Torontonians will end up footing a much bigger bill and put our water at risk.

Brad would put the city billions in debt, but where would he get the money to repay this debt? Straight out of our own pockets. Plus interest. If the province takes control of our water, our city will no longer have a say in our water rates and services.

Brad’s all about the status quo. That’s why his group is endorsing some of the longest-serving and most conservative members of council.
