World Elder Abuse Day is June 15, two weeks from today. Each weekday afternoon until that date, we will have a shareable post to encourage everyone to and . Today, which is also Intergenerational Day in Canada, we’re reminded that we all, no matter our age, can work toward ending elder abuse, and ageing with attitude.

June 1 is Intergenerational Day in Canada!

There are great ideas on the Intergenerational Society of Canada website for intergenerational programs, including an Intergenerational Toolkit, videos, Intergenerational Day activities happening across the country today (maybe you can get some ideas!)

Generations enjoying activities together, and getting to know each other, can help address the “generation gap” and reduce ageism.

Still thinking about who to nominate for an award in this year's Celebrating Seniors Awards? There's only four weeks left before the deadline for nominations!

The awards honour volunteers in the province who are 55 or over, and who contribute in an exemplary way to their communities, province, and beyond through their dedication to volunteer service. There are people in every community who do this. Who's the person who is at every event, making sure things are running well? Nominate that person!

Saskatchewan thrives because of our volunteers. This is a chance to show them they're appreciated.

Information about Celebrating Seniors, and the nomination form, are available on the SSM website: https://skseniorsmechanism.ca/celebrating-seniors-2026/

There's one more session of SSM's excellent three-part virtual Conference coming up on May 12 from 9 am to noon. It's the culmination of the journey where we've been inspired, and have contributed to the conversation about how we can champion older adults' issues. The overarching theme of the Conference is Older Adults Seize the Day. On May 12, we'll hear about -- and talk about -- how older adults can rock on, finding life satisfaction as we age. Be there!

If you missed the first two sessions, you can watch video of the keynote presentations on our website. They're definitely worth a watch and a thoughtful listen.

To see the videos, and to register for the culminating session, go to SSM's website for all the details: https://skseniorsmechanism.ca/conference-2026/

During Mental Health week, we're focussing on Connections. Sometimes it's hard for older adults to make the connections we need in terms of our mental health. It's hard to open up and talk about what's going on deep inside us. But if some aspect of your mental health is suffering, it's important to talk with a qualified person who can help. The Canadian Coalition for Seniors' Mental Health has put together a two-pager about talking about loneliness and isolation. This can help.https://ccsmh.ca/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/WEB-ENG-CCSMH-SIL-Convo-Guide-For-Older-Adults.pdf
