As Speed Skating Saskatchewan’s Provincial Coach, CJ is a familiar face around the rink and an important part of helping skaters across the province grow, learn, and chase their goals.

From supporting athlete development to working with clubs and coaches, CJ brings energy, experience, and a love for the sport to everything she does. Whether skaters are building confidence, sharpening their technique, or preparing for their next competition, CJ is there to help guide them forward.

We are so grateful to have CJ as part of the Saskatchewan speed skating community. Next time you see her at the rink, be sure to say hi!

In speed skating, development is not just about getting faster.

It is about helping skaters build the skills, confidence, strength, and race awareness they need as they grow in the sport.

For younger and newer skaters, that might mean learning proper skating position, improving balance, building comfort on the track, and understanding how to race safely.

For more experienced skaters, development can include refining technique, building consistency, learning race strategy, improving dryland habits, and preparing for higher levels of competition.

Every skater’s pathway looks a little different, but the goal is the same: helping athletes keep learning, keep improving, and keep loving the sport.

Thinking about getting started this fall? Now is a great time to find a club near you and get ready for Learn to Skate programs.

April 19–25 is National Volunteer Week and we’re taking a moment to recognize the people who truly keep our sport moving.

From early mornings at the rink to organizing events, coaching, officiating, and everything in between, volunteers are the reason speed skating exists in communities across Saskatchewan. This year’s theme, Ignite Volunteerism, is all about celebrating that passion and the impact it creates.

To every volunteer who shows up, gives their time, and supports our skaters, thank you. You are the heart of this sport.

Know someone who deserves recognition? Consider nominating them for the Saskatchewan Sport Awards Volunteer Dedication Award: https://www.sasksport.ca/celebrating-sport/saskatchewan-sport-awards/

For more than 50 years, the Moose Jaw Kinsmen Speed Skating Club has been introducing athletes to one of the fastest sports on ice.

Based at the Kinsmen Arena, the club welcomes skaters of all ages and abilities, from young beginners learning to glide to experienced racers sharpening their speed and technique. Programs like First Strides and Fast Strides help new skaters build confidence and skills before progressing into speed skating.

What makes the club special is the community behind it. Coaches, volunteers, and families work together to create a supportive environment where athletes can challenge themselves, travel to competitions, and discover just how exciting speed skating can be.

Thinking about trying something new on the ice? The Moose Jaw Kinsmen Speed Skating Club is always happy to welcome new skaters.
