A ReFrame favourite is making its World Television Premiere this weekend.

Saturday, October 10th at 8pm HOME will screen on TVO to mark World Homeless Day.

When Degrassi creator Linda Schuyler discovers a homeless encampment on the lawn of her family’s once-grand ancestral home, she embarks on a powerful journey to explore the human stories behind the crisis.

HOME is also be available to stream at tvo.org/series-docs and the TVO Docs YouTube Channel beginning Friday, October 9th at 9am ET.

Today marks the sixth National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. On this day, we remember the 150,000 First Nations, Inuit and Métis children forcibly taken from their communities and enrolled in Indian Residential Schools, where they were subjected to widespread abuse and mistreatment. Thousands never returned home.

In light of a rise in residential school denialism, we’re highlighting a handful of works to watch and listen to on this day.

290 George Street North in Peterborough originally opened in 1947 as a movie house, The Odeon Cinema.

Then in 1979 to 1995, the space operated as the two-screen Trent Cinemas before being sold.

Re-opening in October of 1996 as Showplace Performance Centre. It has served as Peterborough's regional hub for the performing arts ever since.

A festival favourite makes its online debut in time for International Coastal Cleanup Day, Sept 19!

THE CIGARETTE SURFBOARD (ReFrame 2025) is an award-winning environmental documentary about art, activism, and what anyone can do to protect and restore the health of the ocean. The film is optimistic, upbeat, and solution-driven–surfing is the medium, but the message is universal.

The film will be available online September 15-27, 2026, as a call to action for our collective ocean stewardship.

Screenings include virtual Q&As featuring inspiring professional surfers and ocean activists from the film. More details in our bio.

Celebrate Peterborough-Nogojiwanong Pride Week with ReFrame at the Library! The film program pairs the landmark 1968 drag documentary The Queen with Diane Obomsawin’s award-winning animated short I Like Girls. Local drag legend Sahira The-Djinn will introduce the films and join us for reflections and a post-screening Q&A.

Born in Nogojiwanong and raised near Rice Lake, Ryan is an accomplished interdisciplinary cultural curator, producer, and writer with a strong belief in the power of nonfiction storytelling. He brings a rich background in documentary production, public programming, cultural engagement, communications, and community-building to ReFrame.

We're so glad to have him on board, and look forward to the creativity, curiosity, technical expertise, and collaborative spirit he'll bring to ReFrame.
