In 1986 a group of concerned parents of recently diagnosed children, decided to raise funds for Epilepsy research.
By 1990, a local chapter of Epilepsy Ontario was up and running and an executive director was hired. In January of 1991, a new Service Coordinator was hired.
Over the next 40 years hundreds of thousands of dollars were raised to fund education and support services for hundreds of clients in Peterborough, Northumberland & Victoria counties. Counselling, school & workplace presentations as well as one on one personal counselling sessions were given.
As of April 30, 2026, it has come to the finale. Staff have retired. Volunteers have gone on to other projects, and the office in the Charlotte Mews is now permanently closed.
Farewell & Thank you to all who have supported this office over 40 years. All inquires can be forwarded to Epilepsy Ontario

This is an amazing program and a great opportunity for your child to experience summer camp.

Every child deserves a summer where they can just be a kid.

For families living with epilepsy, that’s not always simple. Safety concerns, medical needs, and uncertainty can make something as “normal” as summer camp feel out of reach.

That’s why Summerfest Camp by Epilepsy Ontario matters so much.

This one-of-a-kind program gives kids aged 6–15 living with epilepsy the chance to build confidence, independence, and lifelong friendships—all in a fully supported environment with trained staff and on-site medical care.

It’s more than canoeing, rock climbing, or campfires.

It’s about:
• Feeling understood
• Gaining independence
• Building self-esteem
• Creating a sense of belonging

These experiences are life-changing—not just for the kids, but for their families too.

Access matters—and your share or support could open the door to a life-changing summer for a child.

Living with epilepsy isn’t always visible, but that doesn’t make the experience any less real.

There are quiet moments of strength, growth, and resilience that often go unseen. Even on the heavier days, progress can still be happening in small, meaningful ways.

Be gentle with yourself. Growth doesn’t always look the way we expect it to. 💜

Living with epilepsy can bring unexpected challenges, and some days feel heavier than others. đź’ś

Self-care doesn’t have to be complicated, it can be as simple as resting when you need, celebrating small victories, or asking for support. Every step toward your well-being matters, and giving yourself that care is just as important as anything else in your day.

You are not alone, and your journey deserves patience, compassion, and kindness.
