Every child deserves to belong, participate, and be included.

If your child or youth has experienced exclusion at school or in child care, whether once or many times, we encourage you to submit a report through the National Exclusion Tracker.

Exclusion can mean being sent home, being left out of classroom activities or field trips, or being denied access to child care. Each experience matters. You can submit a report each time exclusion happens.

Each report helps document what families are experiencing across Nova Scotia and builds a clearer picture of where change is needed.

Thank you to the Municipality of the County of Richmond , families and community members who joined us last night in St. Peter’s for Building an Inclusive Vision!

Coming together gives us space to share our hopes, learn from one another, and remember that we are not alone in our advocacy. There is power in families connecting - sharing experiences, building confidence, and imagining what inclusion can look like for their children and communities.

Thank you for bringing your voices, questions, and commitment to a more inclusive future.

Want to join the conversation? Our next session is virtual this Thursday, October 8, from 6–8 p.m.

October is Disability Employment Awareness Month!

People with disabilities bring skills and experience to workplaces across Nova Scotia. This month, we’re highlighting five ways employers can make hiring more inclusive:

✅ Write job postings in plain language.
✅ Value diverse experience, not just formal credentials.
✅ Offer simple, practical accommodations.
✅ Build natural supports at work.
✅ Partner with inclusive employment programs.

Use these five steps to review your hiring practices this month and throughout the year.

We were proud to join SECNs One Stop Shop for the kick-off of Disability Employment Awareness Month!

This event brought together service providers, advocates, employers, and community members to celebrate inclusive employment and the meaningful contributions people with disabilities make in workplaces across our community. It was a great opportunity to connect, learn, and recognize the importance of removing barriers to employment.

A special shoutout to our own RWA representative, Tyler, who was there representing our organization and taking part in the celebration. We’re grateful to have been included in such a positive and important event!
