A group of Dal students in the Faculty of Agriculture’s Bioveterinary Science and Science programs is excited to travel to South Africa for a 3-week immersive field course in wildlife ecology this spring. They'll learn hands on conservation, animal behaviour and research skills alongside professionals. The experience is transformative, but costly. Your donation helps break down financial barriers for passionate students. With help from alumni, friends and community supporters, we can make this opportunity accessible regardless of financial means.

When Berna Garron reflects on her late son Michael’s deep love for the ocean and marine life, she says Dalhousie University felt like a fitting place to honour Michael’s legacy.

Now, “Michael’s Whale,” an 18-metre blue whale skeleton suspended from the ceiling of Dal’s Steele Ocean Sciences Building, can be seen by visitors to the Beaty Centre for Marine Biodiversity.

OK. Blue Jays: Let's! Play! Ball!

Three-peat Dal alum Josh Goreham (BSc’12, MSc’14, PhD’23) is the Toronto Blue Jays’ lead performance analyst. He’s responsible for helping the organization curate the millions of data points it collects on player workload and performance, delivering insights to the front lines to help players hit, run, throw and field to the best of their abilities over the course of a long season.

The joy of helping the Blue Jays players reach their potential, and doing it within a team that puts people first, Goreham told Dal Magazine, is exactly why he does the work.
