Recently, the Comox Valley Classic Cruisers were invited to have a presentation and tour of their facilities by Comox Valley Search & Rescue ( https://www.cvgsar.com/ ). CVSAR members, Chris Bowen, Win Koch, Scott Larsen and Mike Fournier were wonderful hosts and certainly opened up our club’s eyes as to the myriad of specialty services CVSAR is ready to perform.

On behalf of the Comox Valley Classic Cruisers, treasurer, Irene Mattson, was please to make a cheque presentation to Comox Valley Ground Search and Rescue Vice-President, Chris Bowen, in support of all of the important work that they do.

Comox Valley Search & Rescue is a volunteer-based organization dedicated to helping people in distress across some of the most challenging terrain on Vancouver Island. Their team responds 24 hours a day, year-round, working closely with RCMP, BCEHS, and partner agencies to bring people home safely.

Their members are highly trained volunteers who generously give their time to search, rescue, medical response, and community education. From mountain and wilderness searches to rope, avalanche, swiftwater, and K-9 operations, they are ready to respond when people need help most. Search and rescue is always provided at no cost, and our ability to do this work is made possible through the dedication of our volunteers and the ongoing support of our community.

The Comox Valley Classic Cruisers are grateful for all of the members of Comox Valley Search & Rescue, and completely support their mission and important contribution to the community, as well as the entire island and the province.

🍁 If it is the end of August in the Comox Valley . . . it must be time to go to the fair! 🍁

On the Saturday of the Comox Valley Exhibition Fair ( https://cvex.ca/ ) this year, the Comox Valley Classic Cruisers had several members decide to spend a day at the fair. A total of 16 club member vehicles were on display for the enjoyment of all fairgoers on the Saturday of this year’s event. 😎

The Comox Valley Exhibition Fair is an agricultural event showcasing 150+ years of Agricultural Heritage. From toddlers to teens, and grandparents too, there is something for everyone around every corner!

♥️♠️♦️♣️ So . . . how’s your poker face? ♥️♠️♦️♣️

On Saturday, September 12th, the Kiwanis Club of Courtenay is hosting their Inaugural Charity Poker Run for Pediatrics.

The Poker Run will start at the Kiwanis Village Social Hall, located at 635 Pidcock Avenue in Courtenay, V9N 8V2. You can register from 9:30 AM to 12:00 noon and purchase a score card at that time.

Score cards cost $30.00 per hand and each vehicle is required to purchase at least one hand . . . however . . . there is no limit on how many score cards you may purchase. 😉 Help the Kiwanis Club help paediatrics in our community and meet their goal to provide valuable equipment for children in our area.

Great prizes include: a Traeger Grill, Fishing Trips, $500 food gift card, Airplane tour, Tools and more…!

Entrants are encouraged to bring a new stuffed Teddy Bear to donate to the Healthcare Foundation to be given to a hospitalized child.

😲 It is hard to believe that it has been a week already! 😲

🇨🇦 What a great way to spend some of the BC Day Long Weekend . . . attending the Comox Nautical Days Parade and the Nautical Days Car show at Comox Marina Park. 🇨🇦

The club would like to thank Comox Valley Classic Cruisers club members, Bill Skelcher for transporting the Legionaries, Fred Tutt for displaying our CVCC logo at the show and Bob Mace for driving Miss Teen BC, Evelyn Van Dusen, in the parade.

We would also like to wish Evelyn all the best, as she leaves for Toronto later this month to complete in the Miss Teen Canada Pageant.

Once again, our thanks to the Town of Comox, the town staff, the Valley Vintage Car Club, the sponsors and all of the volunteers that make Nautical Days happen. Bravo! 👏
