Safety isn’t spooky! Skelly and Steve are here with your seasonal reminder of what those boosters are doing for your big kids: they position the seatbelt to catch your child by the strong bones of their pelvis and shoulder, not their vulnerable abdominal organs, spine, and neck!

Keep kids in a booster until they fit the adult-sized seatbelt safely. Most kids are 10-12 years old by the time they fit correctly by passing the 5-Step Test:

1-Shoulder belt centered on the shoulder, not on their neck or face
2-Lap belt low on the hips, touching the tops of the thighs
3-Lower back is against seat w/out slouching
4-Knees are bent comfortably at the edge of the seat
5-Feet are on the floor (can sit this way the whole ride)

Thanks to the generosity of a local farmer, these pumpkins are looking to go to the homes of children who couldn’t buy one this year. If this sounds like you, come take ONE. They are sitting outside on our deck. Pick up when it’s good for you. 🎃

Community Post: WE SCARE HUNGER 2026

Help Dr JH Gillis students scare away hunger this Halloween! On October 31, volunteers will be collecting non-perishable food donations to support those in need in our community.

What to donate:
- Canned vegetables and fruit
- Pasta, rice and dry grains
- Peanut butter and canned protein
- Boxed meals and cereals
- Bottled water and juice packs

Please ensure all food items are sealed and within their expiration date.

Drop-off location: Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School

Volunteers will also be going door-to-door in town from 6–8 p.m. on October 31. Please have your donations ready for pickup. Volunteers will be wearing orange vests.

Every donation makes a difference. Thank you for helping our community scare hunger away!
