Every five minutes, someone in Australia is diagnosed with diabetes.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in Australia. 1 in 4 (26%) of all deaths.

Behind every diagnosis is a person navigating daily challenges – making choices about food, staying active, monitoring their health, and balancing the demands of work, family and everyday life.

With the right information, support and community connections, people can feel more confident in managing their health and reducing their risk of complications.

Your support helps provide education, resources and advocacy that empower people to live healthier lives and improve their long-term wellbeing.

If you'd like to make a difference, please consider donating or sharing this message.

Healthy Living NT is at International Diabetes Federation Western Pacific Region and Australasian Diabetes Congress (IDF-WPR & ADC) 2026 in Melbourne, where Helen Lamech will present her research on workforce instability as a barrier to Type 1 diabetes care in remote settings.

The research explores the challenges of providing Type 1 diabetes care in remote and very remote Australia, highlighting the importance of improving continuity of care and strengthening support for remote communities.

We’re proud to have Helen representing Healthy Living NT and sharing this important work.

Last week, Healthy Living NT joined Compass 2026, hosted by Northern Territory PHN, a leading conference for primary healthcare professionals.

The conference brought together health professionals from across the NT to connect, share knowledge and explore new approaches to primary healthcare, with a strong focus on improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

It was a great opportunity for our team to connect with others working across the health sector, exchange ideas and hear about the innovative and community-led work happening across the Territory.

We’re proud to be part of these conversations and to continue supporting healthier communities through health promotion, education and collaboration.

A big thank you to everyone who connected with us and contributed to such a valuable event.
