In 1985 Dick Smith and his mates ran a charity event - a "Bash" in the outback. They bribed, cheated and laughed their way around a route. It was heaps of fun and raised a lot of money for children. It is now so popular Variety NT and the states hold their own Bash each year. The Variety NT Bash is not a rally or race. It’s an opport

unity to join like-minded people on an adventure to explore the remote corners of the outback. It’s an opportunity to meet some amazing people along the way and share a story or two. It’s the opportunity to do the ‘oddest’ things in the ‘oddest’ places. It’s the opportunity to make lifelong friends with an ever growing collection of people known as Bashers. It’s an opportunity to drive old cars to some magic places. All this knowing that every dollar raised goes to make the lives better for children with special needs and their families in the Territory. The Bash is the holiday after a year of fundraising. But here's the catch...you pay for your holiday!!!! That's right, the Bash is not a free ride, but it's a lot of fun! For the Bashers a lot of effort, fun and money goes into preparing a Bash car and theme. During the Bash we visit a range of schools and see many children along the way, and the joy they get from seeing the 'crazy cars' has to be seen to be believed. So join up for a year of great fundraising and Bashing. What is a Bash Car? You will need a reliable, well maintained vehicle that is at LEAST 25 years old and will survive a trip on some of the Australia’s notorious dirt roads. A Bash car needs to be noticed, no amount of decoration is too much – as long as it does not break any laws. Not long to go now, start packing and prepping yourselves. We will release the baggage truck layout in the coming weeks.

Dodgy will head off on the reccie this weekend with our Pathfinders to check out the roads and meet with the locals.

Thanks to teams who have put hands up to volunteer and display their cars at the Supercars this weekend, as always, it's a massive weekend there and we really appreciate your help!

‼️Thanks to all you legends who have submitted your Crew Member Form! Keep 'em coming in.

We are due to do a reccie this weekend, but word has it the roads are not quite ready for us yet out towards Limmen and Lorella. The graders are out and about though, so shouldn't be too long....could be a first, doing the reccie as the Bash?!! 🤭

🛏️There are still some ensuite rooms with Queen bed available at Lorella Springs, if you're after one, please reach out to Marie [email protected]

💰Keep that fundraising coming in, you're doing amazing! We will close off fundraising 2 weeks before Bash start COB Friday 31 July.

🏎️Supercars update - Our Treasure Tanya is hard at work seeing if we can get our supply of buggies, the ones we usually get have been damaged and are in the repair shop. Stand by for updates on this one....

🚚Baggage Truck - We will look to do a working bee at the baggage container later on this month. Once we're all ready, we will advise each team where their allocated space will be. Use this to store what you want to, just make sure each item is clearly labelled with your team's name and number!

🛠️Vehicle Prep - it's time, start making sure your car is Bash ready, good tyres are essential for where we are going plus a spare or 2.
A mechanic must sign off the Vehicle Compliance form, even better if you can submit your mechanics inspection form alongside.
The mechanics will be here to support you on the Bash, but you must make all efforts to ensure your car is mechanically sound and not rely on the Bash mechanics'.

🎭Theme Days - it's a short Bash so just 2 theme days this year, the final day heading into King Ash Bay will be Royal Purple. You can change into Bash formals for the awards if you wish to.
Another Bash theme day will be Music Through the Ages - this one is tailored by our Master of Entertainment - Hooky! Hooky will let each team know the song he has chosen for them, theme your day around it and learn the lyrics..... it's Lip Sync Battle time at Heartbreak Hotel! If you haven't got your song yet let us know!

🦺Officials - we have a full suite of Officials ready to roll. Guess what, in true Bash style we have Virgin Bashers as Pathfinders 🤪🤣 Oh this is gunna be fun!!

We're working on finalising the participants fees and will release the info as soon as we can, budget for around $1k for the week.

Start prepping for the Baggage Truck to hold your gear. We will let you know once the container is ready to for you to load your ear.

Each team will be allocated 3 shelves for storing items. Please note – this does not include your spare tyre, tents, or swags.
If your team requires more space than the allocated shelves, please let Tania know. If there is any spare capacity after all teams are accommodated, we’ll do our best to provide additional space.

🔹Shelf Dimensions:🔹
Waist-height shelf: 43W x 70H x 62L
Head-height shelf: 43W x 55H x 62L
Roof-height shelf: 43W x 50H x 62L
See photo. We recommend purchasing heavy-duty containers that match these dimensions – they fit perfectly and last forever.
If you are using bags or container, please ensure you label them with your team.

All spare tyres must be clearly marked with your team name and number.

🔹Tents/Swags:🔹
These must also be:
· Clearly labelled with your team name.
· Marked with the date(s) you require them to come out of the shipping container.

‼️Howdy Bash fam bam we are in need of Volunteers‼️For the Litchfield Rural Show (nee Fred’s Pass Show) next weekend the 23 and 24 May.

🕛Shows Opening Hours: The Litchfield Rural Show is open from 9am to 9:30pm Saturday and 9am to 4pm Sunday

📅Shift times available each day:
8.30 am – 1:30 pm
1:15 am – 6:00 pm (Sunday finish at 5.00pm)
please indicate which day(s) and shift(s) you’d like to volunteer for when you reply.

Volunteer Roles:🎟️We will provide entry tickets for Volunteers.
🤩Merchandise sales – Guess the number of Lego, raffle and helping run our Variety stall
🤩Providing Information – Variety - Grants

We'll be bumping everything in the Friday afternoon and bump out Sunday at 5.00pm.
