A huge thank you to The Gap community for the incredible turnout at today’s ANZAC Day commemorations — even with the less-than-ideal weather. It was a powerful reminder of our community’s ongoing commitment to honouring and preserving the ANZAC spirit.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the many volunteers who make this event possible each year. In particular, we recognise our local RSL volunteers, who work tirelessly not only to organise events like today, but also to support the wellbeing of former ADF members and their families in our community. If you’re interested in getting involved, we’d love to hear from you.
We gratefully acknowledge the support of Brisbane City Council, Federal and State Government representatives, and our local community supporters, including Fresco’s The Gap, Meat at Billy’s, The Gap Football Club, The Rotary Ashgrove The Gap and The Gap Guides and Scouts for providing this morning’s BBQ and assisting with much of the behind-the-scenes organisation.
Thank you to Colin Bushell Photography for capturing the event, and to the many local schools for their participation and for hosting their own ANZAC Day ceremonies. Special thanks to the staff, Captains and choir from The Gap State High School, as well as the Australian Military Wives Choir, for their contribution to today’s service.
Our appreciation also goes to Pastor Luther Ramsay (The Gap Baptist Church), the Queensland Police Service and Bugler Isaac Judd for their valued roles.
A special thank you to 7 Combat Signal Regiment for providing the catafalque party and Dawn Service address. We also acknowledge the generous support of Alex Gow Funerals (bottled water) and Mr Chris Goopy (parade vehicle), along with Brisbane Sound Group and Alderley Hire for essential equipment.
Finally, we are especially grateful to Brisbane Brass Music Association Inc. for their outstanding contribution as our marching band and for performing the National Anthems.
Lest we forget.
