Drug ARM's vision is for flourishing people and communities living free from the harms of alcohol and other drugs. We provide a range of support services throughout Queensland and in northern NSW. We also deliver training and advocacy. In 2024, Drug ARM celebrates 175 years of service to community.

This Saturday 20 June, something special is happening at our Capalaba Op Shop… and you are invited 🪴

Four of Drug ARM's volunteers and staff members have been banished to the Op Shop Jungle for some very serious crimes…

Now it’s up to our community to help rescue them. Every dollar raised goes directly to Drug ARM’s Street Outreach Services, supporting people in our community experiencing homelessness and hardship related to alcohol and other drug challenges.

It’s meaningful work and simply by showing up, you are part of it.

Each fundraiser has a goal to reach before they can be rescued from the jungle on the day...

For many people doing it tough, support doesn’t start with a big moment, it starts with feeling welcome.

Before visiting the SOS van, Tracey wasn’t sure what she would find or if she would feel comfortable at all.

What met her instead was something simple, but powerful: "People were chatting, laughing, catching up like neighbours."

Moments like these can make all the difference.

Dave Earl and Nicky Warren recently presented to a group at Laeta Living on the work of Drug ARM in Ipswich, including the meaningful work Dave is doing with veterans.

It was a great opportunity for conversation, alongside Mates for Mates, Ipswich RSL and other community services. Nicky has since been invited back to deliver a longer presentation on alcohol and other drugs.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by the Drug ARM stall to say hello, share a conversation, or learn more about our services. It’s conversations like these that make a real difference.

Today, someone will walk up to the SOS van for the very first time… just like Tracey did.

For a year and a half, Tracey was sleeping rough , she was scared, isolated, and unsure who to trust.

Then one day, she took a chance on Drug ARM's Street Outreach Service.

What she found was not just a hot drink.

“People were chatting, laughing, catching up like neighbours,” she says. That moment of connection meant more than she expected.

She found people who looked out for each other, and small acts of kindness that made her feel seen. Jason, the coordinator, always tries to bring her Saladas because she likes them.

“He remembers the small things… and when you’re doing it tough, those small things feel big, because they make you feel seen,” Tracey says.

Right now, more people than ever are facing homelessness, isolation, and uncertainty.

That’s why the SOS vans matter.

They offer more than coffee, they provide connection, dignity, and a pathway to support.

It costs $42,800 a year to keep the vans stocked with supplies across our communities, ensuring that every person who takes that brave first step is met with kindness.

New wheels, same mission

We are so grateful to partner with Bartons to help us keep showing up for our community 💙

This week, we welcomed a specially equipped outreach vehicle that will support our team to connect with people safely on the streets and carry essential resources where they are needed most.

Outreach vehicles naturally go through a lot over time, and without replacements they can become unsafe or unusable. This vehicle means we can keep showing up not only safely, but consistently and without interruption.

A big thank you to Bartons, and to Michelle and Michael for delivering the vehicle and taking the time to chat with our team and all the support in the lead up, we really appreciate it.

National Volunteer Week 2026!

National Volunteer week holds a special place in our hearts at Drug ARM. Whilst we are grateful and appreciative of our volunteers for the work they do every day, this week is about celebrating just how vital they are to our community and in building a healthier future.

This year's theme, Your Year to Volunteer is a moment to thank those who already give their time and to invite others to discover how volunteering can create connection, purpose and lasting positive change.

From our student counsellors, Street Outreach teams, op shop superstars, intake and marketing volunteers, to our Board members - we thank you for all the different ways you help make a difference. Thank you for being part of the Drug ARM community, this work would not be possible without you.
