We recently held our second Quarterly Awards Ceremony at the THC office and across our Roseville, William Street and Artarmon projects. Thank you to everyone who joined us as we recognised the contributions and achievements of our team members.

Congratulations to the two Passion in Action winners, Inna and Sandesh! 🎉

Inna (Impact in Action) Inna demonstrated Impact in Action by making a positive difference through her dedication and commitment to THC. Her nominations recognised the contribution she makes through her work and the positive impact this has for both colleagues and participants, helping to create meaningful outcomes.

Sandesh (Client Advocacy in Action) Sandesh demonstrated Client Advocacy in Action by consistently putting the voice, dignity and wellbeing of participants first. Through strong relationships with participants and families, he ensures participants receive the support they need and that their best interests are always upheld.

At The Housing Connection, our weekly Yarn Circle is about so much more than knitting and crocheting. It's a space where creativity, conversations and meaningful connections come together.

Every Wednesday, participants gather to share stories, learn new skills, and exchange ideas. Whether it's getting creative with a project, trying something new, or simply enjoying each other's company, there's always something to look forward to!

It's often the little moments that matter most. The shared laughter, encouragement they offer one another, growing confidence and sense of belonging that come from being part of a supportive community.

THC's Annual Report 2026 is now LIVE on the website! This year's report reflects a year of resilience, courage and preparation for the future amidst ongoing NDIS reforms and changes across the disability sector.

Through inspiring participant stories and key organisational achievements, we highlight the impact of our work in supporting people with disability to build confidence and independence, explore meaningful employment opportunities, strengthen community connections and exercise greater choice in their lives.

Above all, this report celebrates the people, relationships and collective efforts that make The Housing Connection what it is today, as we continue building a stronger and more sustainable future together.

The Housing Connection participated in the Treely Eco-Walking Challenge, that was converting our team's steps into trees planted in Kenya! 🌳

Kenya’s tree cover sits at around 7%, making it one of the least-forested countries in Africa. For Mental Health Week 2026, we’re proud that our team’s steps supported both our combined wellbeing and tree planting in Kenya. Some results below!

4,189,000 steps walked
263 trees planted

What we can take away from this wonderful experience:

👟 Every step counts: a great reminder that our everyday actions can have a real impact.
🤝 A real moment of togetherness: walking together also means building connections, talking differently, and sharing a common goal.
🌸 Balance: getting outside, moving, switching off, all small steps towards better wellbeing at work.

💙 National Carers Week | 11–17 October 2026

This week, we recognise the invaluable contribution of more than 3 million unpaid carers across Australia who provide ongoing care and support to their family members, friends and loved ones.

This year’s theme, ‘Care for a Carer: Making Carers Visible,’ reminds us of the importance of recognising, appreciating and supporting those who dedicate so much of themselves to caring for others.

At The Housing Connection, we are committed to working in partnership with participants, their families and support networks to build meaningful relationships and support each person to achieve their goals. By working together, we can build a community where each person is valued and their individual choices are respected.

To all the carers in our community and beyond, thank you for the difference you make every day. 💙

We were delighted to see so many participants and team members come together on 17 September to celebrate Anne Louise’s birthday!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who worked behind the scenes, from decorating and preparing food to serving and making the day possible! A special thank you to Magdalena, THC Social Educator, for capturing beautiful photos throughout the day. 📸

Reflecting on her special day, Anne Louise shared these words:
"Thank you for such an effort in getting almost every person we support to attend. I felt so humbled and incredibly honoured by everyone’s presence. The decorations in my room, all the amazing cards, endless gifts and an abundance of beautiful flowers. This is what puts THC on the map and makes us stand out in comparison to other services."

Days like this are a beautiful reflection of the heart of The Housing Connection and the connected, inclusive community we continue to build together. 💛

Faridah is a talented artist and one of THC's Support Coordination participants. Over the past year, she has been part of the Customised Employment Pilot, working towards turning her passion for painting into her own micro-enterprise. 🎨

Faridah is now showcasing her artwork on Instagram and exploring print-on-demand, allowing others to purchase prints of her paintings online. Below is wonderful testimonial from Faridah -

"This is where the 'magic" comes, the supports within THC, Sebastion (Career Coaching), Sayal (Tech Guru), Shivika (Marketing), Xiaoyin (Strategy, Innovation, Growth), to name a few that shaped the progress of my Business and therefore my confidence, my faith in myself. These silent "heroes" through their professionalism, dedication and care are second to none in shaping my business.

Thanks to Barbara (Manager) and Esther (current Support Coordinator). They planned my supports so holistically with other support networks so that I won't take a step backward while I am progressing alongside with other supports within THC.” – Faridah

A huge congratulations to Inna and her husband, Jin, who took on the incredible challenge of the Sydney Marathon and completed the full 42 km! 🏅

To celebrate this amazing achievement, members from The Housing Connection came together near the Sydney Opera House to cheer them on and welcome them at the finish line.

It was wonderful to see everyone come together to show their support and share this special achievement. Completing 42 km is no small feat! 👏

"Sean has always enjoyed making art. Last year, his older sister came across the Willoughby City Council art competition. As Sean loves drawing, she thought it would be a great opportunity for him to enter and encouraged him to give it a try.

From there, Sean spent quite a long time preparing his artwork, with support from his family and his art teacher. It was something the whole family worked towards together, but the art itself was very much Sean's creation.

His picture shows people of different abilities enjoying things together — playing, having a picnic, dancing and singing. Looking back, I think the idea behind his artwork fitted very well with the spirit of the exhibition, which is about inclusion, connection and giving people of all abilities an opportunity to express themselves through art.

We were very happy and proud when Sean's work was selected as the winning artwork. What started simply because his sister saw the competition and suggested that he enter has now led to this solo exhibition, which makes it particularly meaningful for Sean and our family." - Jason Yang, Sean's family member

Jason’s solo exhibition is running from 26 September to 22 October 2026 at Dougherty Centre. If you’re nearby, come along and show your support for Jason’s artwork. Jason is a talented artist and a Support Coordination participant at The Housing Connection (THC). This exhibition is a wonderful celebration of creativity, community, and inclusion. 🎨

At The Housing Connection, connection is at the heart of everything we do. Every day, we get to support people with disability to build relationships, feel included, and live the lives they choose. And honestly, that same care matters just as much for the people in our lives too. 💛

Maybe it's a colleague who's had a rough few weeks, a friend who's gone a bit quiet, or a family member who hasn't been themselves lately. You don't need the perfect words. Just ask "Are you OK?", really listen to the answer, and check back in again. That alone can mean more than you'd think.

This year's message is "Ask R U OK? Any Day", because a moment like this doesn't need to wait for a date on the calendar.
