We may wake up to the smell of smoke tomorrow morning, and here is why.

Smoke from a hazard reduction burn near Kurrajong in the Hawkesbury is currently drifting to our north towards the Central Coast.

There is the potential for smoke to settle lower overnight before drifting along the Hawkesbury River, which may impact parts of the Northern Beaches.

If you see or smell smoke in these areas, please remember this is likely related to planned hazard reduction activity.

Only call Triple Zero (000) if you see an unattended fire.

Cottage Point Rd is currently closed approximately 500 metre south of the CP RFS station, due to a motor vehicle accident. No persons are injured or trapped. Awaiting a tow truck to clear the vehicle. NSW RFS - Terrey Hills Brigade are on scene.

If you are smelling a little bit of smoke over the Cottage area here is why.

Smoke from hazard reduction burns being carried out in the Hornsby and Hills areas is currently drifting across the Northern Beaches.

These burns are expected to continue over the coming days, with a burn at Davidson scheduled to begin tomorrow.

Just a reminder to only call Triple Zero (000) if you see an unattended fire.
