International Womenโ€™s Day ๐Ÿ’œ

At Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT, weโ€™re proud to celebrate the incredible women who inspire, empower and step up every single day.

This yearโ€™s International Womenโ€™s Day theme, Balance the Scales, reminds us that while progress has been made, many women and girls still face barriers that stand in the way of true equality. Creating a fairer world means continuing to challenge those barriers and supporting the next generation to lead with confidence.

Today, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to the amazing Girl Guide Leaders and Volunteers. Week after week, you give your time, share your knowledge and champion girls to be brave, curious and strong. Because of you, girls grow up knowing their voices matter and that they can shape their own future.

Together, letโ€™s keep working to balance the scales. โš–๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŒโœจ Happy World Thinking Day 2026! โœจ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’™

Today, we celebrate something truly extraordinary.

100 years of World Thinking Day. ๐ŸŽ‰

For a century, Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world have paused on this day to reflect, connect and celebrate our global sisterhood. This year, it feels even more powerful.

Millions of girls and women across the globe are celebrating alongside us. From local Unit halls across NSW, ACT & NT to communities on every continent, we are united by friendship, courage, service and the belief that girls can change the world. ๐ŸŒ
Thinking Day is about:
๐Ÿ’ซ Friendships that last a lifetime
๐Ÿ”ฅ Confidence built in each and every girl
๐ŸŒฑ Small acts of service that create big change
๐Ÿค Belonging to something bigger than yourself

For 100 years, World Thinking Day has reminded us that when girls come together, incredible things happen. Hereโ€™s to the next century of brave ideas, strong communities and girls shaping their own futures.

Share your World Thinking Day activities with us via DM or email [email protected] so we can celebrate our Guiding community in action. ๐Ÿ“ธ

We are looking forward to celebrating this on 22 February

World Thinking Day has been bringing girls and women together for 100 years โ€“ and thatโ€™s something worth celebrating.

Since 1926, Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world have marked 22 February by thinking about one another, learning about different cultures, and celebrating the friendships that connect us across countries and communities.

In 2026, weโ€™re celebrating a full century of World Thinking Day โ€“ honouring our history, celebrating where we are now, and looking ahead to the future of our movement.

Happy Wattle Day! ๐Ÿ’›

Australiaโ€™s golden wattle is more than just our national floral emblem โ€“ itโ€™s a symbol of unity and resilience in the face of challenges. At Girl Guides, we see those same qualities in our members, who grow stronger together through friendship, courage, and community.

๐Ÿฆ’๐ŸณWhat a night!๐Ÿจ๐Ÿ

Our North Turramurra Girl Guides joined over 400 others at Taronga Zoo for the Great Guide Sleepover Sydney 2025. Even though the rain kept us off the Concert Lawns, the Top Plaza site (right next to the animals!) turned out to be a great spot.

We danced at the silent disco, curled up for a silent movie, made badges, woodburned keyrings, and of course enjoyed hot chocolate and popcorn. It was so lovely to see our unit out exploring, laughing, and making memories together.

And the biggest win? All of us, across NSW/ACT, raised more than $16,000 for the Greater Bilby ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™

Thank you to everyone who came along, and to our volunteers for helping make it possible. It was extra special to have both Rachel (our Deputy State Commissioner) and I there representing North Turramurra Guides. ๐Ÿ’ซ

Canโ€™t wait for the next adventure with you all!
