Before starting training this week our team toured Boram Provincial Hospital in Wewak to discuss the challenges the hospital faces with the senior nurses. This time enabled them to tailor their training delivered to the nurses. Long-term change starts with listening and learning, and by working alongside our local partners each step of the way. We're grateful for the opportunity to share our knowledge, strengthen local capacity and contribute to better healthcare outcomes here in PNG.
The end of this team visit is fast approaching - please continue to keep this team in your prayers as they conduct the last day of training tomorrow and for their safe return home on Sunday.

Our team recently visited Boram Hospital in Wewak to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges facing local healthcare professionals and patients, and how Cosmos Alliance can best support their needs.

The tour highlighted the realities of working with limited resources, including challenges with essential medical equipment, facilities and access to clean water.

While the scale of need can feel overwhelming, it reinforced the importance of taking meaningful steps towards safer care through education, collaboration and practical support.

Please continue to pray for the team as the training continues. We’ll keep you updated on all that’s happening!

Like many countries, Domestic Violence or Gender- Based Violence is a huge issue in PNG. Sadly 82% of women in PNG will experience some form of GBV in their lifetime.

Cosmos Alliance aims to build awareness of key issues like GBV to improve the lives of women and children. As part of the training course given to CHW’s last week, the Cosmos Team opened the discussion on Domestic/ Gender based Violence Education.

Our PNG Training Team were busy in their first week in Wewak. They held training sessions to help upskill 30 newly graduated Community Health Workers.

The team has covered a range of essential skills, including full-body examinations, basic life support, medication administration and trauma wound management.

It’s wonderful to see this growing group of health workers building their knowledge, confidence and practical skills to better serve their communities.

Our team is still happy, healthy and working hard, so thank you for keeping them in your thoughts and prayers. Please continue to do so as the training continues. We’ll keep you updated on all that’s happening!

While our Allied Health team were in Zimbabwe working alongside the team at the King George VI Hospital, they were each taught how to sign their names and professions in Zimbabwean Sign Language.

This was a special reminder that communication isn’t always verbal but has a way of connecting people.

Here is the team signing in Zimbabwean Sign Language.

Our PNG Training Team arrived safely in Wewak yesterday and were warmly welcomed by Sister Linda and Dr. Julius at the airport.

After settling into their rooms, they visited the retreat centre where the team will be training over 30 CHW’s this coming week. Please pray for the team as they prepare for a busy week ahead.

Today (Sunday) the team will be attending the Wewak AOG church with Sister Linda before lunch and then plan on enjoying an afternoon of sightseeing and visiting the Australian Army War memorial at WOM Bay with Dr. Julius.

Please pray for rain in PNG, good rains are only expected in December/January, and the town is very dry and many of the surrounding villages are struggling to get drinking water.

Thank you for your prayers and support. We feel privileged to be here to teach and train other health workers. The team are looking forward to learning from the Papua New Guineans along the way.

Our Allied Health Team returned safely to Australia today. Many thanks to Karina, Carrisa, Shelby and Makailah for all their hard work and to our partners at Sizolwethu for their support. It’s your time to rest now.

We're so grateful that this team had the opportunity to walk alongside, train and encourage their colleagues in various disability spaces in Bulawayo. This level of collaboration will bring lasting results for those who need their special care.

Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers while this team was away.

The team spent time in Matobo last weekend to resting, reflecting and appreciating the beauty of Zimbabwe and the amazing animals before returning refreshed for a few more days of service.

Working alongside our partners, the team continued to train healthcare professionals and disability support staff. They participated in community outreach clinics, completed home visits and shared practical knowledge to help strengthen local healthcare. It was especially rewarding for them to see some previous teaching already being put into practice, highlighting a lasting impact.

Please continue to send pray for the team as they wrap up the trip, say their goodbyes and travel back this coming weekend.
