Some moments change everything.

For Lisa and her family, it was the night they packed a bag and boarded a midnight flight, not knowing where they'd sleep while Audrey received cancer treatment.

It's a sobering reality hundreds of Australian families face every year when life-saving cancer treatment is only available far from home.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, treatment isn't always close to home. For Audrey's family, it meant leaving Tasmania and travelling hundreds of kilometres for life-saving treatment in Melbourne.

They're not alone. Around 30% of Australians live more than 180km from major healthcare services. For many families, a cancer diagnosis can mean leaving behind work, school, routines, and the support of loved ones just to access the care they need.

That's why Fight Cancer Foundation provides accommodation close to treatment, so families can focus on what matters most: being together and supporting their loved one through cancer.
