When a child is diagnosed with cancer, treatment isn't always close to home. For Audrey's family, it meant leaving Tasmania and travelling hundreds of kilometres for life-saving treatment in Melbourne.

They're not alone. Around 30% of Australians live more than 180km from major healthcare services. For many families, a cancer diagnosis can mean leaving behind work, school, routines, and the support of loved ones just to access the care they need.

That's why Fight Cancer Foundation provides accommodation close to treatment, so families can focus on what matters most: being together and supporting their loved one through cancer.

Please donate before 30 June and help ensure distance isn't a barrier to life-saving treatment: donate.fightcancer.org.au/heartandhope

At just eight months old, Audrey was flown from Tasmania to Melbourne for urgent leukaemia treatment.

Her family arrived exhausted, terrified, and with no idea where they would live during the next two years of treatment.

That’s where Mercia comes in.

As Accommodation Manager at Fight Cancer Foundation, she helps welcome families into a safe place to stay close to hospitals, somewhere they can finally breathe, rest, and be together.

Because cancer treatment is hard enough without worrying about where you’ll sleep.

Please donate before June 30 to give more families fighting cancer somewhere safe to stay: donate.fightcancer.org.au/heartandhope

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, life doesn’t pause.

For families like Joel’s, it meant travelling from Tasmania to Melbourne for his daughter Audrey’s vital leukaemia treatment. As a chef, Joel couldn’t work remotely while away from home.

The financial strain can become overwhelming very quickly.
The mortgage still needs paying.
Bills still arrive.
Rent, groceries, fuel, time off work – it all keeps going.

That’s why Fight Cancer Foundation provides accommodation close to hospital, so families can stay together without the added stress of expensive hotels or long daily travel.

Please donate today to help families stay close to treatment, and close to each other: donate.fightcancer.org.au/heartandhope

At just eight months old, Audrey was diagnosed with leukaemia.

Her family had to leave home almost immediately for life-saving treatment – leaving behind work, routine, and the certainty of knowing where they’d sleep.

“We had nowhere to stay,” said Lisa, Audrey’s mum.

For families facing cancer, the cost goes far beyond treatment. Many are suddenly forced to travel hundreds of kilometres from home just to keep their child alive.

That’s why Fight Cancer Foundation provides families with a safe, affordable place to stay close to hospital – so they can stay together during the hardest time of their lives. Right now, more families like Audrey’s need somewhere to call home during treatment.

Donate before June 30 and help give families fighting cancer a home away from home: donate.fightcancer.org.au/heartandhope

When cancer treatment takes families far from home, support means more than medical care.

It means somewhere safe to rest, cook a familiar meal, breathe, and stay together.

That’s what Fight Cancer Foundation accommodation provides every day.

To the mums, carers, and mother figures who keep going, even on the hardest days.

Holding everything together.
Showing up with love, care and compassion, again and again.

Today, we’re thinking of those caring for loved ones through cancer, and those going through cancer treatment themselves.
