H5 bird flu continues to spread through Australia’s wildlife, with more than 350 confirmed cases and over 20 species affected.

The virus has now been confirmed in three mammals in South Australia: a long-nosed fur seal, a common dolphin and an invasive red fox. Its spread beyond birds is deeply concerning, particularly because there is no commercially available H5 vaccine for mammals such as seals and dolphins.

The Federal Government’s recently announced $20 million response is welcome, but it falls well short of the $200 million emergency response experts and conservation groups have called for.

You can help reduce the risk of further spread, if you see a sick or dead bird or mammal:

AVOID: Do not touch the animal. Observe from a safe distance.
RECORD: Take photos or videos if it is safe to do so.
REPORT: Report the sighting to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.

Also,
- Reduce or avoid feeding birds in your backyard
- Empty & clean bird baths daily
- ⁠Keep cats indoors and dogs on leash

Rikki Dank is a proud Gudanji and Wakaya woman and the founder of Gudanji for Country. Rikki and her family are on the frontline of protecting Country from Big Gas greed and fracking.

These waterways hold far more than water. They carry food, childhood memories, cultural knowledge and stories passed down through generations.

Catching Mudjiga means taking only what is needed, returning the small ones and those carrying eggs, and making sure they will still be here next time. It is another part of caring for Country and keeping culture strong.

But all of this depends on healthy water. Fracking threatens the aquifers and waterways that sustain people, wildlife and culture across the Beetaloo Basin.

Water justice means Traditional Owners having the right to protect the water that has sustained communities for generations. Because if the water is poisoned, what happens to the people, stories and ways of life connected to it?

Water is life. It is memory. It is culture.

We must stop Big Gas Greed, and we must protect the Beetaloo Basin from fracking.

The latest NT tourism campaign has dropped 😳

The Northern Territory government wants to use fracked gas from the Beetaloo Basin to power energy-hungry data centres, a move that will ignite a climate bomb and put artesian water at risk.

And, what's our Prime Minister doing about it? Diddly squat.

We urge the Federal parliament not to capitulate to the polluters. The forthcoming legislation must rule out coal and gas-fuelled data centres.

Our Prime Minister has weakened his position on data centres.

Instead of legislating renewables as the power source for data centres, the Prime Minister has bowed to pressure from Queensland and the Northern Territory - a state and territory that will preference the use of coal or gas.

What does all this mean? It means the NT's precious Beetaloo Basin is at grave threat of being opening up for widespread commercial fracking.

Fracking is dirty and dangerous business. It has wreaked havoc already across Queensland, and has caused widespread water contamination in the United States.

We cannot let this happen to the Northern Territory. Water is life. It is a finite resource.

Ban fracking in the NT!

Big Gas greed is ramping up its dirty dangerous fracking business across the Northern Territory's Beetaloo Basin.

We need your help to ban fracking to protect water, protect Country, protect communities, protect wildlife.

The first dribble of fracked gas is on its way to Darwin but we can stop a ramp up of fracking before the Beetaloo is turned into a contaminated wasteland - just look at what's happened across America when Big Gas fracking took over.

We must act now.

Rikki Dank from Gudanji for Country is a fierce defender of her Country and we stand with her and her family as they take on Big Gas greed.

Just today, gas corporation Beetaloo Energy secured a construction partner to build a 750km gas pipeline and associated infrastructure for a proposed data centre development.

Fracked gas to power data centres? You've got to be kidding...

We're calling for NO PUBLIC MONEY to be spent on gas fracking projects and infrastructure.

If the private sector won't cough up the finance for fracking on commercial terms, that is not a problem Australian taxpayers should be asked to solve.

Australians must stand united in the face of Big Gas greed.

We stand with Aboriginal communities resisting uranium mining, nuclear waste dumping and the escalation of military operations across sacred and sovereign lands, skies and waters.

Nuclear energy is often sold as a "clean" energy source, but that's not the full story.

The nuclear chain begins with uranium mining and ends with radioactive waste, from cradle to grave and everything in between the nuclear industry is dangerous and disproportionately impacts First Nations communities. Here in Australia, First Nations communities have been at the front line for several decades saying no to nuclear and when it comes to uranium, “leave it in the ground.”

Uranium is different to other minerals. It is radioactive and poses unique risks to the environment, workers and communities. In Australia, uranium mining has a legacy of leaks, spills and accidents. It’s because of these risks and industries failures that there's a ban on uranium in NSW, Queensland, WA, Tasmania and Victoria.

Australia's energy future is renewable, not radioactive.

In May 2025, the Australian people said no to nuclear at the ballot box.

Now, instead of accepting that decision, ‘nuclear proponents are finding new arguments for a false solution’, says Co-founder of Dave Sweeney.

He’s fought the nuclear industry for decades, stood alongside First Nations communities on the frontlines, picked up a Nobel Peace Prize and OAM along the way, and remains an all-round decent bloke, that's Dave Sweeney. ☢️

In 1989, at 27 years old, Dave was making the case for a renewable Australia on national TV.

And in 2026, he's still saying the same lines - our future is renewable, not radioactive.

It infuriates our opponents, but we're proud that Australia remains free nuclear energy.

Nuclear is high risk and uranium mining is bad for the environment. We stand in staunch solidarity with First Nations communities who don't want radioactive waste on Country.

We said it then. We say it now. Our energy future will never be radioactive. It is renewable. 💚
