A huge win for our nature, wildlife and communities 💚

We're welcoming the first ever environment protection order issued by Australia’s new national EPA on a nasty case of deforestation on a north Queensland cattle property due to its likely impact on the Great Barrier Reef.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our ACF Investigates program - this is your hard work in action.

It’s just a handful of producers doing the wrong thing by nature, and they’re giving the entire industry a bad name.

Let’s keep big old trees in the ground, yeah? It’s good for nature, good for economy and good for our climate.

Family is supposed to mean looking out for one another. Protecting each other, especially when things get difficult.

That’s what makes Australia’s relationship with our Pacific neighbours so heartbreaking.

This week, the Australian Government travelled to Fiji for Pre-COP, speaking about our shared Pacific family and the devastating impacts of climate change on people’s homes, cultures and futures.

Yet back home, our government continues to support new coal and gas projects that will only make this crisis worse for the very people we call family.

Over the past four days, ACF has had the privilege of listening to and learning from people across the Pacific. We’ve heard stories of loss, resilience and an extraordinary determination to protect the places people call home.

Climate change isn’t some distant threat for Pacific communities. It’s already reshaping lives and threatening cultural heritage.

There have been powerful moments of solidarity, important commitments and genuine hope.

Australian leaders cannot speak of the Pacific as family while making decisions that threaten their future.

Our Pacific neighbours deserve more than kind words and promises. They deserve an Australia that stands beside them, listens to them and takes action.

Climate leadership starts with listening to the Pacific. Then acting.
As Pre-COP begins today, we spoke with Anote Tong, former President of Kiribati, about how Australia can show real climate leadership in the region.
For ACF, that means matching words with action: backing Pacific priorities and rejecting new gas projects like Browse and Beetaloo.
The Pacific’s future must carry more weight than the gas lobby’s profits.

Four platypuses sightings in one river! 💚

Through ACF and UNSW’s Platy Project, people across Australia have been recording platypus sightings in their local waterways.

Right now, researchers are also collecting samples to help understand how these funny looking Monotremes are faring.

The findings are concerning: the project has recorded a 25% decline in where platypuses are found.

We need federal funding for research and monitoring to help protect them for generations to come.

🚨 BREAKING: Woodside wants to drill for gas around one of Australia’s most spectacular coral reef systems.

Browse could unleash 1.6 billion tonnes of climate pollution and put Scott Reef’s whales, turtles and coral at risk, mostly to export gas overseas.

But this disaster is not inevitable. The Australian Government can still reject Browse.

Sign the petition and demand the government save Scott Reef from Big Gas.
