This Global Parents’ Day we are recognising the importance of parents’ and caregivers’ mental health and well-being 👪🧠.

Project participants in Pandansari, Indonesia, have been discussing the connection between caregiving and mental health. Guided by a psychologist, these discussions have helped participants to understand their emotional experiences as caregivers, how to foster positive relationships in their households, and find support in their peers.

The Jajal Wae Sustainable Agri-tourism Project is delivered in partnership with our implementing partner in Indonesia, Dreamdelion, and supported by the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP).

🌸 International Women’s Day Spotlight 🌸

Meet Mba Ruri, an inspiring entrepreneur in Indonesia who started her own business from home while balancing motherhood and caring for her child with disabilities.

From weaving recycled packaging into handmade bags to supplying instant tiwul rice (a traditional Indonesian rice substitute), Mba Ruri has built a business that fits around her family. “I want to stay active and support my family’s economy, even if I work from home,” she says.

Learning from other women in a women’s business group and participating in marketing workshops have helped Mba Ruri to build a strong business strategy, expand her network, and refine her marketing skills.

For Mba Ruri, her own successful business is only the start. She wants to see everyone in her community thrive and benefit from new opportunities. “I want to grow what we already have here, without having to work elsewhere.”

This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the creativity, entrepreneurship, and community spirit of women like Mba Ruri 💐

Today is World Day of Social Justice and we’re celebrating the women in the remote Indonesian village of Pandansari who are leading the way in community-based initiatives.

Using locally farmed sweet potatoes, women have been making Grubi. A traditional Javanese snack made from shredded sweet potato, fried until crispy, coated with palm sugar caramel and rolled into small, distinctive balls 🌱🍴.

By working together, the women have shared their knowledge of local resources, learned new skills to make Grubi, improved their product and are now selling their snacks at the local market.

This is a great example of how women-led action can play a big role in creating sustainable livelihoods and stronger rural communities 🌍👩‍👩‍👧‍👦

The Jajal Wae Sustainable Agri-tourism Project is delivered in partnership with our implementing partner in Indonesia, Dreamdelion, and supported by the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP).
