This World Environment Day, we’d like you to meet Potimaya 👋

Potimaya is a coffee farmer in the rural region of Nuwakot, Nepal. Earthquakes, humidity, pest outbreaks, and water shortages have made Potimaya’s journey as a farmer a difficult one, with drastic changes in crop yields leading to an unreliable income.

Poitmaya’s story reflects the challenges many farmers face in remote and disaster-affected areas: unpredictable weather patterns, increased vulnerability to natural disasters, pest outbreaks, crop loss, and limited access to water.

As Potimaya continues to face the challenges of rural farming in a changing environment, she holds onto hope for the future of coffee farming saying, “I still believe in the future of coffee”.

This project was delivered in partnership with our implementing partner, Business and Professional Women Nepal, and supported by the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP).

This Global Parents’ Day we are recognising the importance of parents’ and caregivers’ mental health and well-being 👪🧠.

Project participants in Pandansari, Indonesia, have been discussing the connection between caregiving and mental health. Guided by a psychologist, these discussions have helped participants to understand their emotional experiences as caregivers, how to foster positive relationships in their households, and find support in their peers.

The Jajal Wae Sustainable Agri-tourism Project is delivered in partnership with our implementing partner in Indonesia, Dreamdelion, and supported by the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP).
