Landcare Tasmania

Landcare Tasmania Landcare is a volunteer movement where individuals and groups improve their local patch through hands-on action! We acknowledge Elders โ€“ past and present.

Landcare Tasmania acknowledges and pays respect to the Tasmanian Aboriginal people as the traditional and original owners, and continuing custodians of this land on which we live today. A care group (Landcare, Coastcare, Wildcare, Bushcare, Friends of etc) usually starts when passionate locals share concerns about an environmental problem, then get together and do something about it. Landowners an

d communities drive on-ground change in places they value, improving soil health, water quality and wildlife habitat. Volunteers may be from the coast or the country, students or retirees, farmers or families. Landcare is a dynamic and credible movement with extensive networks across Tasmania, Australia โ€“ and beyond. Landcare Tasmania Inc and Landcare Action Grants are supported by the Tasmanian Government.

โœจ Monday Member Spotlight: Friends of Five Bob Farm

Five Bob Farm's Landcare group works in the bushland areas of the farm.

They love working under the tall white gums, with honeyeaters and pardalotes calling, and with views of the D'entrecasteaux Channel.

The group is a collection of local people - volunteers, staff, owners, friends and neighbors who share an interest in the property.

Their current focus is tackling the invasive w**d Spanish heath.

Group member Bec talks about the group's journey:

"We started in March and meet on Thursdays at 9.30am, usually every three weeks. Some people come from Hobart and car pooling is an option. Two of our volunteers live on a yacht, and volunteering here is their 'land-time'! Two other volunteers are artists and they love working among the sculptures of the Art Farm.

"After each working bee, we have a leisurely lunch and chats on the sunny balcony at Five Bob Farm. It's a pleasant way to spend a Thursday."
