⚓🤩 An incredible day on the water with the Year 9 students from JORDAN RIVER LEARNING FEDERATION during the final TasPorts IGNITE school sail!

These 15 students were enthusiastic and ready to conquer every challenge, evolving into young tall ship sailors & budding marine scientists by day's end. Our crew were super impressed by their attitude & desire to give it all a red hot go!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Huge thanks to Luke and Neve from IMAS for bringing their mobile lab and creating exciting hands-on learning that the students clearly loved.
From steering the boat to exploring marine life, the day was packed with unforgettable experiences.

Jett C: "Went really swell, & loved steering the boat, it was fun being captain."
Charli J: "Definitely in my top 3 excursions I have ever been on."
Ellie Jean H: "Loved everything about the marine science & seeing a baby lobster under the microscope."
Tyrese W: "I saw a sea lion & named him Alfred, and I got to drive the boat which was really fun."
Ash F: It was truly inspiring to see and hear how some students are now considering a future in marine science. 🌟

They say it takes a village to raise a child… well, it turns out it also takes a small, enthusiastic army to keep one of Tassie’s most loved icons thriving — our much cherished Lady Nelson! 💙

And here’s the best bit: Yes, you can learn to be a tall shipper and sail; but you don’t need to know a thing about sailing to still be part of her crew.
Our shore team is full of legends who keep everything humming - from admin and accounts to marketing, maintenance, engineering, cleaning, and good old‑fashioned “whatever needs doing.”

❌ No pressure.
❌ No rigid requirements.
❌ No special skills needed.
✅Just a willingness to pitch in, learn a little, laugh a lot, and be part of a community of welcoming humans who love this iconic Tassie tall ship and genuinely cares about keeping this beautiful ship sailing.

Blazing Red Sails, live music, and the unmistakable Magical Energy that sweeps across Hobart in June — this is your chance to experience it from the water.
