THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO OFFERED MATTRESSES & BASES TO US. AT THIS POINT, WE HAVE WHAT WE NEED.

Hi Hobart. We are in need of single mattresses with ensemble bases, single mattresses by themselves, double ensemble bases and double mattresses. All the mattresses need to be in great condition because we can't pass them along if stained or torn.

We are not taking bases with slats.

We can collect from your home with our van.

If you can help out, we would be very grateful. THANK YOU

Short of a Sheet are always very grateful for your generous support.

But!...the warehouse has become very untidy and we need some time to sort and beautifully store everything. Overall this will make our job much easier and quicker.

We are taking a break from accepting donations for the rest of October.

If we have already arranged a collection from you over this coming week, please be assured that this will still happen.

Thank you for your patience.

Over the last three weeks, we have assisted nine families with furniture and household items. We have now run out of saucepans and are asking if you have any extra saucepans with lids to consider donating them to Short of a Sheet.

We cannot accept saucepans where the teflon has been badly scratched as these are unsafe to use.

We have three drop-off points:
* 85 Pedder Street New Town into the timber cabinet on the porch
* Artosaurus - 71a Main Road Moonah (check their site for their open hours)
* Artgym - 37 Barrack Street Hobart (check their site for their open hours)

We are needing small, medium and large sized saucepans please.

Hi all. We have been extremely lucky & overwhelmed with the generous support of so many donors in Hobart & Greater Hobart. So much so, that we are putting a halt on taking any further sheets, doonas, doona covers, pillow cases, blankets and kitchen items until October 1st.

Please note that we do NOT accept King size sheets, doonas, doona covers or blankets.

We will still be able to accept furniture and whitegoods, but our bedding & kitchen shelves are full.

If we have already arranged a collection from you over this coming week, please be assured that this will still happen.

Hi Hobart. We are in need of volunteer with a full driver's license to assist us with driving our van one day per week between 11am-4pm.

Ideally, this person would help with moving furniture and household items when we collect donations or deliver to people moving into their new home after homelessness or domestic violence.

We require that our volunteers hold or are willing to apply for a Working with Vulnerable People card which is free on application via Service Tasmania.

Please message us or phone on 0482 014 296.

Good to see there is more help available

12/08/2026

There are times our hearts sing when we help those who need assistance, particularly those who are living rough in our cities and surrounds.

Last week we had the privilege of delivering 35 (out of 50) "essentials" back packs to a Safe Night Space in Hobart. From our warm, comfortable homes it's easy to forget the challenges faced by some in our community, even for life's basics which so many of us take for granted.

Our volunteers found it quite emotional visiting the safe space, seeing how well it is set up, and engaging with some of the recipients of the back packs.

A huge thanks for the wonderful support of the Satellite Rotary Club of Battery Point, which provided funding for 50 packs. Their team also helped us pack the bags with many items including socks, un**es, tissues, food vouchers, beanies/scarves/gloves knitted by Knit4Charities, and much more.

Also a shout out to our President, Kerrie, who sourced all the supplies, generously donating even more of her time to this project.

EDITED:
If you are planning on attending our AGM, the Training Room is located outside the library main doors in the library carpark!!.
Photo below shows entrance, please ring the bell.

Short of a Sheet's Annual General Meeting is coming up this week, and a special invitation is extended to all our wonderful supporters to come along and hear about what we've being doing and the year ahead.

We're always keen to talk to potential new Board members but of course that doesn't suit everyone, so we'll happily talk about what volunteering opportunities are open (everything from collections/deliveries to folding sheets!). Or maybe you just want to find out more about our little organisation and meet the lovely team behind it?

We can promise a super casual meeting where everyone is welcome - and no long speeches!

The AGM is 10.00 am, 8 August 2026
at Level 1 Training Room
Hobart Library, 91 Murray Street, Hobart.

We'd truly love to see anyone who is interested.

Need more details or like to chat? Contact us via Facebook/Messenger. Our days can be very busy, so we’ll get back to you asap.

We have provided them with the sleeping bags, bedding, crockery & cutlery.

If you are able to provide any of these items, please respond here or via Messenger.
